Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 I think we just have to admit that whatever is said about Schlupp is right. Everybody is right. He's brilliant and he's terrible, often within the space of five minutes. That moment this afternoon when he had the ball and was practically walking while asking for options instead of sprinting into acres of space was one of the weirdest things I've seen since that time he let a ball go out of play earlier in the season. But for the next ten or fifteen minutes after that, he was unstoppable. Definitely not a full back whatever anyone says though. As soon as we went 3-4-3 at the start of the second half, he was in a perfect role. One thing to end on because I realise I've called him terrible (at times) and criticised one moment: this is basically his first full season because he's always been a bit-part player even in the Championship. I didn't think he was good enough for the Premier League but he worries defenders and he is improving.
Unabomber Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 He cracks me up big time. Those moments when you can tell he is thinking to himself "I have no idea what I am doing" yet he is playing in a vital premier league game, just nuts. Yet he is capable of brilliance so for that I will kind of forgive him and always support him.
martyn Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 Think it's pretty simple with Jeff. Capable of great things instinctively. Often terrible when he has time to think.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 He stormed past their RB so many times in that second half. It was like watching Dyer on a good day - down the outside, most likely kick and rush, and whip it in.
GingerrrFox Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 He's still so inexperienced playing on the left that once he spends another 12-18 months in that LB/LWB/LM role he will develop into a hell of a player for us. He was a striker throughout his youth so in reality he's still learning on the job.

I watched him a few times when he played left wing for the Under 18s and that looked his natural position. He isn't a left back or a striker. Max Power Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 Still raw and learning but there is SOMETHING there. Left wing back seems a good position for him but we'll see. I'd go with him over Konchesky every single time

ScouseFox Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 one of the worst left backs in the history of football. as a left winger, getting there, hopefully. still looks stupid as fvck half the time, then makes the oppo look stupid as fvck the rest of it. His reading of the game is so bad though, he should never be anywhere near our back four ever again.
Master Fox Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 I do love it when he shrugs off a player knocks the ball a few feet and just legs it. There really isn't a player in the Premier League with better pace and strength than young Jeffery. The rest of his game needs work though. shade Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 I like him and he seems like a nice guy. that being said, he's like an autistic kid, brilliant at specific things.
lgfualol Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 Nightmare at LB. Shame our only other option is Konchesky. But in an attacking position he is so effective, not many rbs can deal with his pace. If we do go down or whatever, he'd murder championship rbs. ousefox Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 He's shit 80% of the time but brilliant enough for 20% to justify him being picked. He just seems so brain dead it's hilarious watching him.
davelcfc100 Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 Watching the game back on match choice and didn't notice it so much earlier but he had a really good game today
peterborofox Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 His touch has generally improved i think but he will always be a frustrating player, on form he is unplayable down that side and no matter what anyone says he can never be accused of not giving 100 percent. Second half he had a good game and really caused a problem for the full backs. Just will always put that worry in your head when hes on the ball, whist his brain will always be seemingly behind everyone else. And anyway down that side he has looked better than both right full backs have in their position
sdb Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 Think it's pretty simple with Jeff. Capable of great things instinctively. Often terrible when he has time to think. Exactly that. As the bloke sat next to me last week said: 'He's as good as he is bad'. Which cracked me up. Don't think it's a positional thing though. He's ok at LB for me, although how we've ended up with him there is mildly concerning.
FoxSince88 Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 its all a game plan from Jeff. He does something so shit in front of there right back so they Mark him closer thinking they will just take the ball off him with ease then..... BOOM Jeff presses his nitrous and he's off
Spudulike Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 Should've been awarded a penalty.
Max Power Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 If he had half of Cambiasso's brain he'd be playing for Chelsea or something. Just embrace the chaos, there are far worse players in the squad.
General Smuts Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 ****ing love the guy. Has been one of out better players all season. Definitely not a left back though. I'll be honest and say that I criticised him last season for being positionally terrible at left back and at one point it looked like Pearson was grooming him to be our first choice there this season. Especially when we didn't sign a left back in the summer. But with him bombing down the left and terrifying right backs I'm completely sold. I've bought in completely. At times he looks knackered, at times he looks like he hasn't got a clue what he's doing, at times he balloons the ball into row z when that's the hardest option but I love the guy. Should be a guaranteed starter in my opinion. Plus he donated a nice chunk of money to my marathon fund so I'm well and truly in his debt.

Col city fan Posted 11 April 2015 Share Posted 11 April 2015 I think with Schlupp you simply know what you are getting. Not the brightest footballing brain, I'd suggest, but a player with pace and power and directness. You MUST play the lad to his strengths if you play him at all. First half he was like little boy lost. Second half he was completely different...a thorn in the side of the opposition. This ain't rocket science. I've maintained all season and still say it now...if we do finally get relegated I think Schlupp will be snapped up, probably by one of the promoted sides AND played in the best way. Tbf I recon GTF would have stormed past Dawson today, he was ****ing terrible wait till you see Huths goal on MOTD, instead of using his left foot to clear he uses his right to slice it into the net.
