Still so tight. I reckon we'll now finish above QPR and Burnley but I still think Hull and S'land have a couple of surprise results up their sleeves.

Avoid defeat at Burnley, something that would put us on 29 points, and we'd have five games to pick up five-six points for safety. Win it and we may only need one win from five to confirm safety. 

 

Looking at the run-ins of the clubs around us, I'd be surprised to see anybody needing more than about 35 points for safety.

 

Of those five games, you'd only really write us off against Chelsea.

I voted 'pretty slim' last week, now I'm 50/50.

 

The Burnley game is key. We need a minimum of 2 points from Burnley and Sunderland, in my opinion.

 

I think we'll beat Newcastle and QPR, so as long as we don't lose both of the Burnley and Sunderland games, I think we'll have enough.

 

I'd rather take 2 draws than a win and a loss. Sounds stupid because we'll have less points, but we can't afford either of them to gain all 3.

I think its slightly better than 50/50 now.  We probably only need 2 wins from the last 6 to be safe I reckon.  2 wins and a draw I think would do it, with our goal difference as well would likely need multiple sides on 36 to send us down.  I cant see enough teams being able to do that from the ones around us.

That's assuming the teams above us get less than that. There is this mythical 'points total' that we seem to be aiming for. We need to get more points than Sunderland and Hull in the last 6 games. That's nowhere near a given.

It'll always be necessary - some people wouldn't vote 100% even if we were mathematically safe.

I'd say we have a decent chance. The main thing is that it is all in our hands, which it didn't look like it would be a few weeks ago.

Quite good - it's entirely in our hands, we win vs sunderland and match everyone elses results the rest of the time and we're safe. As it is, I don't think more than 35 will be needed with Hull and Sunderlands run-ins, two more wins and a draw (preferably one of the wins against Sunderland) and we're safe I reckon.

West Brom killed my theory today, they're safe, so I won't count any chickens. Nonetheless, we should be confident now if ever. Have to avoid defeat at Burnley and we're in a great position.
