lgfualol Posted 2 July 2015 Share Posted 2 July 2015 Would love to take him over Lennon. Shame his rep has been a bit dampened by his Holland record. Edit. Not sure about this really.
benpicko Posted 2 July 2015 Share Posted 2 July 2015 Weren't the Dutch crying out for him to leave the national team because of how horribly he was doing? And even if he does decently he's not really a longterm appointment is he? He's about 70 and seems to move on every year or two

Finnaldo Posted 2 July 2015 Share Posted 2 July 2015 Skeptical. Seems to have as much foundation as Lennon but a slightly less disappointing appointment.

Fox 4 Life Posted 2 July 2015 Share Posted 2 July 2015 Where is all this Sven 2.0 bollocks coming from. Because they are both experienced and foreign? Sven wishes he had the cv of Hiddink. He will attract players and commands a great deal more respect than Sven. On top of that this isn't the championship which is notoriously harder for managers to adapt too. Kitchandro Posted 2 July 2015 Share Posted 2 July 2015 Not sure what to think of this, in recent years he's not been long at clubs, international record is very good but this last job he did very poorly. Could work out ok but I wouldn't be overly optimistic, especially after hearing Dutch complaints about tactics and formations.
fox123 Posted 2 July 2015 Share Posted 2 July 2015 Currently 3/1 on Betfair from 16/1 earlier and I expect majority of bookmakers to soon follow suit. 1/2 on betdaq, just gone 7/2 on BET365.
RowlattsFox Posted 2 July 2015 Share Posted 2 July 2015 My main worry is the amount of money we'll spunk on him. For a year or two, if he can stabilise us and then we go for a fresher approach. If he can mould cambiasso then even better, has he managed him before.
The Doctor Posted 2 July 2015 Share Posted 2 July 2015 At his age likely to be a short term appointment, but there's no arguing with his CV - I'd take him to establish us in the short term with the aim to bring in a Montella down the line. Have you compared records. Spells of club management with decades of international management, with mostly failure. Barely sticks around for more then a year. TMELcfc Posted 2 July 2015 Share Posted 2 July 2015 This is the only man I've seen us linked with that gets me remotely excited. The players he can attract as opposed to Lennon is a massive difference. And even if it is two years he is in charge for, who cares, there will be better options by then hopefully. The bookies shortlist is shocking at the minute.

Less than a year as an international manager gives you almost no time to effect anything. Only relevant complaints really are that he's played a couple of people somewhat out of position. He's a top manager and was my first thought in terms of an ambitious appointment. No manager brings guaranteed success but this would be a coup.
