ajthefox Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 aaaand that is why you play him. he did nothing really of any note all game but hold the ball up once, beat his man once and play a great ball through once and we scored. odd that he's gone so quiet in the last month. could well be to do with the internationals putting him out of sync. hopefully back on it asap, especially with no vardy next week. His decision making is often criticised and sometimes rightly so, but the patience he showed today for the goal and giving it to Kante not Okazaki was a very smart move. SpinneyHillRanger Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 Had a good game today... In a way glad he was off when West ham scored as I could see some fans finding a way to blame him especially for cresswell, tracking back etc. Hopefully might get more confidence for the Swansea game, which without vardy will make us have to play a changed style
maddog Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 I wouldn't be too aggrieved if Mahrez was given a rest next Sunday with Gray starting and Mahrez coming on second half for Gray or Albrighton. He'll be fresher then and perhaps a lot more efficient over 30 minutes than starting the game. But I expect him to start and rightly so given his 16 goals plus numerous assists. Ric Flair Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 Williams will get sent off next week hacking him down for the embarrassment he caused him back in December.

Socks Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 mahrez has been poor for a few games now give him a first half rest against the swans, see how it goes I agree with the above

Yes it took me years to produce such a masterplan. Ranieri has dropped him to the bench before. Would I drop him? Its not my choice my friend. Its not my choice my friend. That was for an early season game that didn't mean much though - this is really a bit of a must win game; dropping the player most likely to win it for us is madness. KFS Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 Don't think we can afford to rest him for this one given that our other match winner is suspended. This one is Riyad's match. Think I'll back him AGS!
Jimmy Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 I've questioned his performances lately but with no Vardy Mahrez has to play as a no 10 for me with Schlupp and Albrighton wide (Grey if you prefer)
gdl9050 Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 He doesn't seem to be able to get past defenders anymore. Almost seems slower than he used to. Or am I imagining things.

SpinneyHillRanger Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 nah ... he's just bit lower on confidence as fans seem to get on his back everytime he fails with a pass or dribble... played well today, a good hard working 7/
gdl9050 Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 Hope he isn't doing a knockaert. It was weird under Pearson because he would sign wingers who would be absolutely amazing for a year or so and then end up awful because they ended up being coached too much on defensive work. Legend_in_blue Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 There was one moment of brilliance where he seemed to flick it twice (?!?!), it all happened so fast on the touchline it was hard to tell what he did, but that was brilliant. Wasn't really a game for him to shine though tbh, it was very rough and tumble, in your face stuff, which he shys away from most of the time. I'd expect better next week against Swansea who won't be in our, or his, faces as much.
lgfualol Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 He'll be up for Swansea, keen to make Ashley Williams look like a tit again.
Tuna Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 Whenever he gets the ball 4 players surround him which doesn't help. Need a big performance from him against Swansea, that's for sure.
Col city fan Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 The pass to Kante aside, I thought Mahrez again looked bang average today. And has done for a few games now. He keeps running into blind alleys recently. That said, he's been a revelation.

Mikey Posted 17 April 2016 Share Posted 17 April 2016 Thought he did well today. Not the dizzying heights of earlier in the season but better than his last couple. Played a major part in the goal and battled well. Probably a 7/10.
Stevosevic Posted 18 April 2016 Share Posted 18 April 2016 I don't think it's unfair to say he's been poor by his own standards the last 3 games. This really isn't a time where we can afford him to go missing - big players make it count at big moments so come on Riyad, this run in is made for you! Kitchandro Posted 18 April 2016 Share Posted 18 April 2016 He's looked completely bereft of confidence lately, he can hardly even hold onto the ball, let alone take anyone on. With Vards out we desperately need a performance from him.
Clever Fox Posted 18 April 2016 Share Posted 18 April 2016 I think the physical strain of the season has caught up with him. We need a big game from him more than ever now.
