MC Prussian Posted 31 August 2015 Share Posted 31 August 2015 Where the hell is that dude that argued with me that he was slow and used these nonsense articles to say Wasilewski was 'very fast' To be fair, I think the stats produced in this article reflect last weekend's games only. And Wasilewski is supposed to be really fast - contrary to popular belief.

But there are many fast people. You really think 8 of the fastest players at the weekend were in our game. Come off it. It's as bullshit as a Was being one of the fastest in the league. LAprice_ Posted 1 September 2015 Share Posted 1 September 2015 What makes this more believable is the fact that there are several Bournemouth players included too. It's almost as if those Bournemouth players recorded their fastest sprints when chasing the Leicester players. Similar to how Vardy and Jenkinson were top of the list a few weeks back when West Ham played Leicester.

Speed can be deceptive when the object is big. Sometimes you have to use your eyes and realise that perhaps there has been a mistake somewhere. There is absolutely no chance, that Was was one of the fastest players in the premier league. Aircraft carriers are also not quicker than speed boats. Well no, there is a chance depending on the parameters - he's rapid getting back from corners, it depends on whether the sprint is with ball or without and how long it needs to be sustained to count. If there parameters are such that they make him one of the fastest players in the league then they are f'ing stupid parameters. It's just ludicrous. fazzyfox Posted 1 September 2015 Share Posted 1 September 2015 Alan Hutton? Was he a) sliding into a mis-timed challenge at the time, ending up in row b of the stand or b) spotted a deep fried mars bar on the halfway line and adrenaline took over. The quickest thing about Hutton is his career decline.
Merging Cultures Posted 1 September 2015 Share Posted 1 September 2015 The parameter in the article above is 0.5 seconds, which means it isn't necessarily a sustainable top speed, but the fastest someone achieved for at least half a second. No one can argue that Wasyl could run super fast all game, but he has been observed, with eyes of season ticket holders nonetheless, that he can achieve high top speeds for a short period. His sprinting back from a corner is amazing. Now, players like RDL, Schlupp, Vardy etc can probably run faster and for longer. During a game, they probably average a higher speed than Wasyl, but I wonder if they actually try to max their speed. If they did, they risk injury and tiring themselves out. In training, I don't doubt that they can do shuttle sprints much faster than Wasyl, but during a game they probably only do 90% of their top speed, whereas Wasyl probably did 100% of his when he achieved his top speed running back from a corner. Why would this game have produced the fastest players over the weekend? Broken camera? Maybe. But before the game, and during, we were saying how Bournemouth play with speed, and we know that is how we like to play too. So, I am not really surprised that so many players from that game were the fastest over the weekend. Morgan had a decent game too, and I am sure he managed to be that fast over 0.5 seconds. Babylon Posted 1 September 2015 Author Share Posted 1 September 2015 So it's measured over about one step then... which renders the whole thing pretty pointless and meaningless.
