I genuinely thought the guy was gunna live forever. Never really been that into his music but the guy was a true rock and roll hero. One of my best mates worships the guy, probably taken it like a death in the family.

Love that Ace of Spades clip. "You win some, lose some - it's still the same to me."

Great. Sounds like what Ranieri said about a month ago - 'We've got some difficult games coming up. Whether we win or lose, we need to keep the same positive attitude'.

My dad took me to the NIA in Birmingham for my first arena gig. Skew Siskin, Anthrax and Motörhead. He said he wanted to see Motörhead live as many times as possible before Lemmy died. That was 13 years ago and I managed to see them eight times and never had a bad experience, even when it was obvious Lem was struggling with his health. I saw them going so hard they blew a fuse at De Montfort Hall. I've seen so many great bands as support for Motörhead and I'd love to thank them for those experiences. Lemmy can never die and I'll be shaking my flat later on. There is no Motörhead without Lemmy, but if Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee want to carry on in any form I'll be there. RIP Lemmy.

Saw them at thr Eden Project in the summer. Great gig if not a little short (about 45 minutes). Seen them twice before and they remain one of my favourite bands.

An excellent and underrated song writer, he's inspired more people than you could name without ever really reaping the rewards of that through his own record sales (not that he gave a damn!).

Have a listen to Ace of Spades, Jailbait and all the favourites, but check out a track called Dont Let Daddy Kiss Me. Really good song.

I'm genuinely sad i'll never see them play again.

Shocking he made it this long tbh, we're talking about a man who when told by his doctor he needed to make his diet healthier just switched from whisky to vodka. Absolute legend and the last great rockstar - gutted that's it, they were one of the ones I was most looking forward to (alongside black sabbaths grand farewell) next summer at download.

Agree he was a great rockstar but certainly not the 'last great rockstar' considering Richards, McCartney, Weller, both Gallaghers etc are alive.

For the most part you've confused playing rock music with being a rock star - it's more than just the music, it's the look and the attitude as well. The Gallaghers aren't rockstars either, they're dicks.

Surely Ozzy still classes as an old school rockstar?

True, I keep forgetting he's not actually dead yet.

Only seen Black Sabbath once at Hyde park the other year with soundgarden, FNM and Motörhead me and they were ace. Hard to believe that they can still rock harder than some bands nearly 50years younger than them.

Bought a new Motörhead England shirt today to replace my knackered old Hammered 2002 Tour one and The World Is Ours Vol. 2 as it preserves most of the live experience without the being knocked around for 90 minutes and getting a cup of beer (I hope) thrown at your head. Trying not to get all Dangerous Tiger over this but losing the live experience is hard to get over.
