Drinky in England 40 man squad?

Recommended Posts

looking good for Drinky, Simpson should get a call up as well he has been solid all season.

Imagine Vardy, Drinky and Simpson starting in the Euros lol, Albrighton although capable England has too many wingers who are better.

It would be a sad day for me if someone gets a chance for the England team after being 'solid'

England will always have to have to consider players who are not in the world's elite, sorry about that.

But, yeah, it was be awful if a guy who does his job extremely well, and rarely gives up chances from the right side (that he shares with Riyad Mahrez) got a call up. "Solid" is exactly what Simpson has been, and what he needs to be in his role. That word is certainly meant as a compliment.

Back to Drinky-- it's great to see how he never gave up after last season. Drinkwater and Kante consistently win the ball and drive us into attacking positions. Not only is it about time for him to get a call up, but he and Kante should star in a buddy cop film this year as well.

No he didn't. The only youth he picked at the world cup was Sterling.

Meanwhile Welbeck was playing because he'd worn the Man U & Arsenal shirts and Glen Johnson because he'd worn a Liverpool one. In form, exciting (at the time) players like Lallana & Barkley were left out.

We continue to pick Rooney, an England failure and a has been, whilst players like Vardy have to settle with playing out wide or not at all. Drinkwater will probably be left at home despite being pivotal for a side that will fingers crossed touch wood at least go close to winning the league.

He's been in charge 4 years and we have no system, no best 11 and no philosophy.

All England managers since the 90s have been poor, but Hodgson is the worst of the lot.

Are you calling Rooney an england failure? No one has scored more than him? I agree Vardy should be selected ahead of him but calling him a failure is a proper brain dead comment

I hope this call up comes to fruition.

He is in a cm partnership currently top of the Premier League.

He isn't just having 1 decent game, he has been very good all season.

To not take look at him would be pure ignorance from Hodgson and the England set up.

Some players get away with what they have done seasons ago.

Wilshire, sturridge, mason, welbeck, Delph shouldn't be getting considered for the England squad when they have been injured and hardly playing first team football on a regular basis.

If u can't get in your club side or are injured you shouldn't be included.

I want England to take the strongest team possible to the Euros and there are better English players at this moment in time on form at the so called "smaller clubs"

I would love some of these players getting rewarded for a fine season than players walking in the squad just cause they play for one of the top 6

Is this a poem?

It's England to a tee. They kiss the big clubs arses. Only an idiot would say otherwise.

We need to sort the fvck out. The squad selection process is disgraceful.

And yet whenever players from outside the top 4 clubs get picked people complain about the state of English football

Danny Drinkwater has been rewarded for his fine form at Leicester with a late invite to Thursday’s England get together.

Roy Hodgson has been so impressed by the recent performances of the 25-year-old midfielder that he wanted to include him in the gathering of about 40 players at St George’s Park.

England are not in action until friendlies against Germany and Holland next month, but the manager and his staff were keen to see the players.

Drinkwater has forced his way into Roy Hodgson's thinking ahead of this summer's European Championship

The 33 players involved in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign have been invited, together with others who have been around the squad, or who have been out injured.

Hodgson will issue feedback from November friendlies against France and Spain, and preliminary thoughts on preparations for the Euro 2016 tournament in France.

He had not planned to bring in new faces, but was in the stands at the King Power Stadium last week when Drinkwater excelled in a 2-0 win against Liverpool.

And another influential performance by the Leicester midfielder in a 3-1 win at Manchester City on Saturday has convinced the England boss to involve him, rather than wait for the squad announcement ahead of next month’s friendlies.

Hodgson has found midfield options limited during his tenure, especially since the retirement of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.

Jack Wilshere and Michael Carrick have been regularly troubled by injuries, although the emergence this season of Dele Alli and Eric Dier at Tottenham has offered encouragement.

Drinkwater is another who has thrived in Claudio Ranieri’s settled Leicester team this season and started to fulfil some of the potential he had as a youth team player at Manchester United, and earned him international caps at Under 19 level.

It is four years since Drinkwater left Old Trafford for Leicester. The Manchester-born midfielder has developed a good understanding with striker Jamie Vardy, something that will not have escaped Hodgson.

That's yesterday's news, not to say it isn't correct but things can change quickly.
