I'd rather all sports money went in to youth sports (or funding schools to stop selling playgrounds off or offer after schools sports) and not elite athletes who get to beat less well funded athletes. No, I'm saying we can only fund certain sports to elite level, which is what generates the interest to take up the sport in the first place. Which you don't seem to get at all. Have you not seen the whole "get inspired" campaign the BBC are running? The money is split, there is big investment at youth level, that's where these athletes have all come from in the beginning, the lottery funding has helped numerous sports from the ground upwards, brilliant initiative. Absloutley bizarre attitude towards something we should all be proud of. And for the record our athletes are not better funded then a lot of their competitors.
