Buy outs

Recommended Posts

I am really struggling to remain sane after reading all this BS about who is leaving and who is coming in,

most of which based upon inaccurate reporting (with zero accountability) and possible Agent mischief.

The fact we are still in May, is going to make this a long long summer.

i am really having trouble believing these buyout figures placed on the likes of vardy/mahrez/kante,it is no wonder we have trouble holding onto our top players.who decides on the figure onto our players ?

Why who have we lost?

If the rumour that Kante has a 20m clause is true.

Had we had a mid table finish and he had been ok 20m would have been great business.

But I guess you knew they would all rip it up this season and we would be champions.

The club is/was trying to build.

This is a once in a life time story even mystic meg did not see it coming.

Just enjoy it and stop looking for things to moan about FFS.

I'd be suprised if any of our key players do leave especially with some of our best coming out and publicly saying how the team spirit is why the are achieving what they are. If they dont want to be here and don't want to be part of that then let them go, we're better off without them.

There are no more excuses for players to move on (apart from money), theyve won the league, theyre in the champions league.....

As I said to somebody the other day, why would you cash your chips now as a proven 'top premier league player' when you can wait it out a year and move for serious money to another club as a proven 'top champions league player'?

Agree with the BS press stories, most have no substance to them at all.

It seems a little naive with the buy-out figures/contracts. A contract should be a contract and not something that you can just tear apart and run away from at your peril. It seems that the contracts are mostly only working to the advantage of the player. On the other hand it also seems a little strange that as soon as a player is "unhappy" where he is - most managers are willing to let them go instead of telling them so stay put an honour the contract. Make them show some grit and fight through bad situations and not just throw the towel into the ring and be "unhappy". Maybe my view on this is even more naive than the actual contracts.....

guess this is pretty new for us, having clubs wanting our players. Maybe we should ask Southampton fans if this is what they have to put up with every summer?

Your wish has been granted! Read the 'Welcome to our World' thread!

I can understand Kante having a release clause, he didn't really want to come and if you buy at £5.8m and sell for £20m that's great business.

It's the Vardy one that baffles me. How on earth have we negotiated with a 29 year old who is on £40k a week and has 2.5 years left on his contract and gave him double his money and a low release fee? The ink is barely dry on his previous contract and he's shafted us all ends up.

I'm not really surprised and I think it's a slight over reaction.

For Vardy it's understandable why his team wanted a 20m ish release clause. Someone around 30 that's about right imho.

Mahrez, Kante, different stories but neither signed their contracts with LCFC knowing / believing we would actually go and win the flipping league.

I'ts the same at most clubs and common agent requirements for signing contracts. You never hear about Charlie Daniels having a 15m release clause because why would you? We're in the news and we won the big time of course our players are going to be in demand. Why do you think Southampton were stripped, it's just part of being a 'lesser' club. Irregardless of what you've achieved only the big 4-6 teams can get away with higher buyouts or no buyout at all, unfortunately as a team who only just survived relegation going in to the new season expected by most to be relegated, having these buyout clauses was inevitable and natural.

Don't take it out on our negotiating team, if any non big team achieved this, all of their star standouts would be under the same scrutiny by other clubs taking them. It's the price you pay for immediate short-term sucsess. I'd be more worried about Danny Drinkwater / Albrighton / Gray / Schlupp and what their clauses are.
