Halifax Fox Posted 27 June 2016 Share Posted 27 June 2016 Now that we are to leave the EU, it would seem that we won't be able to sign virtually unknown players like Mahrez or Kante as they won't have the required caps etc to gain clearance to play in this country. This would apply to players such as Payet at WHU, Martial at MU etc. So unless a team can fork out mega millions to sign established international players who would still pass the entry qualifications, teams like ours would appear to have even less chance to break into the upper tier of the Prem. A knock on effect would surely be to lower the overall standard of the leagues in this country, whilst at the same time possibly increasing chances of home grown talent to flourish. Scouting systems will consequently need to be overhauled and revamped to take into account the changing times and we have to hope that LCFC will be ahead of the game in order to deal with things as they develop. Or have I got this all wrong?

Or have I got this all wrong? Well it would effect every other club in the country the same wouldn't it? Several nations have already stated they would want special trade agreement talks to start soon so im assuming it would all be part of that... El bastardo Posted 27 June 2016 Share Posted 27 June 2016 Football is one of the biggest exports this country have. One of the only things that has continued to grow during the long recession which we went through, and I would be amazed if it was to take a hit through this whole change. That said, who is to say there isn't a mahrez or kante sitting in teams academies, it is not beyond the realms of possibilities. Certainly wouldn't hurt the standard of the national side (not that I'm too arsed about that). Give youth a chance!
EGBFitness Posted 27 June 2016 Share Posted 27 June 2016 However much I have enjoyed watching foreign players - I'm sure they have bought a lot to the English game, it would be nice to see more English/British players more opportunities now. We have been fortunate to see some of the best foreign players in the world play here and also watch players like Mahrez, Kante, Ronaldo, De Gea, Henry go from unknown to world class - we have also seen a lot of shit/cheap players too. Would be nice to see foreign players be apart of the premier league and a way to provide a way for some unknown gems to still be signed but as a whole will hopefully lead to home grown talent coming through more
bluebeau Posted 27 June 2016 Share Posted 27 June 2016 Hope I am wrong, but I've got a feeling the England team might be booed in tonights game by the European neutrals in the stadium. They will be backing Iceland to beat us.
sylofox Posted 27 June 2016 Share Posted 27 June 2016 Well when we leave tonight Vardy won't be injured and can rest. So leaving the euros will be good for us lol
ScottMGee Posted 27 June 2016 Share Posted 27 June 2016 Brexit will undoubtably make repeating Leicester's feat much harder for the smaller clubs as discovering the hidden EU gems will no longer be possible for UK teams. Also the falling pound will make foreign players dearer in terms of transfer fees and wages. Naturally the bigger teams (Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, etc.) will be relatively unaffected as they can afford to buy, and are to attract, the proven talent that would qualify for a work permit. BoyJones Posted 27 June 2016 Share Posted 27 June 2016 Who cares, leaving the EU is small change compared to a game of football. Our footballers are obviously useless, can't beat Bejam, but shine in comparison to people trying to run the country.
Barwell Fox Posted 28 June 2016 Share Posted 28 June 2016 Going to take a couple of years to leave the EU, so now is the time for Walshy and his team to find those young players that we can bring in for the future. With reference to the strength of the pound, our owners wealth isnt measured by how many pounds they have in the bank. If converting to pound sterling their wealth will have increased substantially over the last few days. Same for every foreign owned British club.
