Fantastic live band, but they'll never replace Hutchence. He was one of the last proper rock stars. They're playing tonight in Sydney supporting Matchbox 20, with another new lead singer. Bit of a comedown from selling out wembley night after night in the 90s.

Never knew Jimmy Barnes sung with them.

Any one who hasn't heard of Jimmy Barnes should check out Cold Chisel one of Australias greatest rock bands.

That's a bit like being the one of the best smelling Frenchmen.

Saw them play De Montfort Hall in '88. Fantastic band with a brilliant showman up front.

I was standing right near the front was quality. I remember hutchence climbing on them massive speakers and tried to climb up to the balcony

I was so pumped after that concert that I jogged all the way home! lol

Saw them tonight....they're still a great bunch of musicians. Set list almost entirely from Listen like Thieves, Kick, X, and Welcome to Wherever You Are.

Their latest lead singer...an Irishman....had a great voice and did a passable Hutch impersonation

Audience full of 40 and 50 somethings. Frightening to think it's 25 years since "Kick" came out

Come to think of it, I think the one I went to was in 92... did they come to de montfort twice?

8th February 1988 and 13th July 1993 according to their gigography.

Either way you were lucky to see them in their heyday

Strangely enough I think I have a bootleg cassette of one of them

Then it would of been the 93 one i went to, I remember at the time thinking demont would be a small venue for such a big group, but they were epic. I came out of thier with every time of clothing soaked through with sweat...And like i said i was so pumped from that night i jogged all the way home. :D which wasnt really that far as i Lived in Clarendon park. Just a totally epic night.

Its always a shame when talented musicians are almost tossed aside when they lose their frontman... but that feels like whats happened....

They were doing their "get out of the house" tour around that time. Playing small venues for the fans. I saw them at the astoria in London. Me and a mate also came out soaked in sweat...can remember taking off our t-shirts in the middle of tottenham court road and ringing them out :D My mate wasn't even a fan, but loved every minute. Was a great gig.

Yeah it is sad. Hutchence had all the charisma, sex appeal etc. The others always come across fairly humble and low key. They can really play though. All the years of touring on the Aussie pub scene paid off
