tyneside fox Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 With the league for next season almost complete(Watford or Palace depending) I just wondered what people Realistically think our chances for promoton will be. IMO next season will be the toughest the Championship has been with QPR,Wigan,Reading joining an already tough league making it even harder to even make the play offs, and teams like Bolton Blackburn already Signing new players do we really expect top 6 finish?
LcFc_Smiv Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 How on earth can anyone make any sort of realistic prediction at this point in time? It's a long summer, the season has only just finished.
indierich06 Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 If the league started again tomorrow, I'd still be happy to predict us making top 6. As it stands, there's no point in making any predictions until the season gets a bit closer - even then, you only need to look at the predictions from last year to know that they very rarely match up to reality. Someone said Wolves would walk the league this season - look what happened there.
FrankieADZ Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 depends on ins & outs during the transfer window in the summer imo

Mack Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 How on earth can anyone make any sort of realistic prediction at this point in time? It's a long summer, the season has only just finished. Exactly. We cant even begin to answer this until mid September at the earliest.
LeicesterAreGoingUp Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 everyone thought this year would be hard with wolves, bolton and blackburn. in fact it was piss easy but we just f**ked up so much the 2nd half of the season
sov968-Foreverblue Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 I think we need to know who will be leading us next year before we can even offer a guess
indierich06 Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 I think we need to know who will be leading us next year before we can even offer a guess We already know; Nigel Pearson. Despite what your gay mate who's enagaged to a former LCFC player thinks.
ScouseFox Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 I think this year showed you're either contenders for promotion or relegation. Some teams even had both through the year. I'd say we're looking more up than down, so yes, we are contenders to go up. Whether we do or not, we'll see.
Lionator Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 Were Cardiff, Hull and one of Palace/Watford realistic promotion material? At the start of the season you'd have had a minor surprise if just one of them went up let alone all 3. The Championship is unpredictable.
surrifox Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 Well we can't answer the question but we can muse upon it. This season will go down as a lost opportunity without doubt and no-one could have foreseen the lack of impact made by the 3 relegated clubs and the three promoted clubs come to that.Next season's relegated sides include a wealthy QPR ( but a club with a deep malaise by the look of it) and two other clubs which I would be surprised if they regroup quickly. Hopefully Watford go up rather than Palace who will be less of a threat next year but a resurgent Leeds , Bolton,Boro,Forest etc should be stern competition plus Brighton and someone else not even on the radar (Ipswich?) NP will not be able to afford the slow start and end of season slump and will have to find a squad capable of nicking results and points even we we are out of form - that could be tricky if we are rebuilding
alwyne webster Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 If hes still around, nothings really sure yet,i mean do we really know what goes on behind closed doors,id say we dont..
hackneyfox Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 'Firm interest was lodged in the ex-Everton striker less than a week after the season finished, and it was hoped a deal in the region of £1million could be completed quickly. But despite a clear message at the time from the East Midlands they were willing to do business, defeat against Watford in the play-offs has seen the club cease negotiations completely. Reports in Leicester suggest the two clubs are haggling over a price for Beckford, but The Bolton News understands no ground has been made for more than a fortnight.' If we're sticking with NFP why have we not accepted their offer.
Guest Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 Let's wait and see what pans out over the summer before piling the usual amount of promotion favourites pressure on the team eh?
Harry - LCFC Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 The relegated teams are worse than the promoted teams IMO. Last season's bunch show that teams coming down won't necessarily be strong contenders, indeed I think this lot are a particularly weak bunch. QPR need to chop and change massively, Wigan may be forced to change a lot too. We're better than Reading and QPR IMO and we will be better than Wigan once their good players/management leave.
kingfox Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 Way too early to say. People expected Birmingham to challenge for promotion last season, they finished mid table, people expected Watford to finish in the low half of the table, they are now in the Play-off final. This league is enjoyable to predict, but it's also tough to predict.

What makes you believe we're better than Reading, they got promoted a season back, we have just failed.
tomtom Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 if we finish behind qpr, we will go up. Is this a new rule coming in for next season? ...could be quite a few teams promoted
Babylon Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 We're better than Reading and QPR IMO and we will be better than Wigan Whaaaaaaaaaat? I'm all for positivity but???
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 Who the Fook knows? Ill wait and see who the manager/squad is first..

Partly agree - I said at the start of last season I didn't think Bolton, Blackburn or Wolves will do all that well - and they definitely didn't (Bolton could have but didn't pick up steam until too late into the season) This season I'm worried about Wigan, I have a feeling they'll do better than they should, seems to be their way. Maybe that would rely on Martinez staying though, which probably isn't likely now. QPR - I'm predicting Redknapp to leave pre-season or just after the season starts. Think they might be like Bolton - faltering badly, one/maybe two managerial changes then a good run of form sees them push for the playoffs late into the season. That, or they have a terrible time and slump into a relegation dogfight that lasts for months. Reading - a steady season that sees them somewhere between 4th and 7th. I predict our season will be much like last season, minus the terrible run - possibly finishing 2nd, but in the playoffs (and sealed before the very last minute of the regular season) Elsewhere, I expect the top six will be mostly made of: Middlesbrough Bolton Palace (as much as I hate it, I can't help but think Watford will win this playoff) Forest (urgh) ... a possible complete outsider (Yeovil, perhaps!)
