asasas Posted 15 March 2014 Share Posted 15 March 2014 Also one of Blackburn or Watford as they have to play each other so at least one must drop points and so that team could not overtake us...the list grows
Stinkenzo Posted 15 March 2014 Share Posted 15 March 2014 I think if we win our next two and Brighton don't win their next two, we're guaranteed a play off place. Along with Reading not winning their next game. My amateur maths may be wrong though
lc4lcfc Posted 15 March 2014 Share Posted 15 March 2014 Are we not just 7 games from guaranteed promotion? 17 points remain that would be 6 games, so it's only 5 games now?
bovril Posted 15 March 2014 Share Posted 15 March 2014 Realistically, 6-9 more points will do it.
Rincewind Posted 15 March 2014 Share Posted 15 March 2014 Won't there be less than catch us now?
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 March 2014 Share Posted 15 March 2014 Realistically, 6-9 more points will do it. Realistically it's done, has been for about 2-3 weeks.
lc4lcfc Posted 15 March 2014 Share Posted 15 March 2014 Won't there be less than catch us now? Not yet if we win our next game then Ipswich Blackburn and Watford are added to the list, even if we don't, those 3 teams dropping points in the next game would mean they are added to the list
MattGamble92 Posted 15 March 2014 Share Posted 15 March 2014 Derby won't get over 80 points. QPR might just. But 87/88 points and its over. We want the title though

The Guvnor Posted 16 March 2014 Share Posted 16 March 2014 17 points required now to guarantee promotion, and don't forget that is worse case scenario assuming all the other teams in the mix winning ALL their remaining matches. Five wins and two draws from 11 remaining, put the champagne on ice!!
Foxes Blue Blood Posted 16 March 2014 Share Posted 16 March 2014 At the moment mathmatically we need 97 points to win promotion. The maximum points for the following teams are :- QPR 96 Wigan 94 Derby 93 Brighton 88 Forest 87 Reading 86 Blackburn 82 Watford 81 Ipswich 81 So as the above teams drop points you can deduct from the above totals, i.e. if Watford or Ipswich drop 1 more point they cannot overtake us, (although they could if their goal average was better). If the top team (as in QPR at the moment) lose points you can deduct from their total and move them down the list, this will reduce the number of points required. with us getting points and these teams dropping points the list will shrink fast. LanguedocFox Posted 19 March 2014 Share Posted 19 March 2014 They don't add to the list, but now we need 94 for promotion. QPR and Wigan's maximum points are now 93 and 92 respectively.

Scoobyrob Posted 19 March 2014 Share Posted 19 March 2014 The way teams are dropping points, 80 points could well be enough. I doubt qpr are good enough to pick up 17 points from 10 games.

foxer Posted 19 March 2014 Share Posted 19 March 2014 So after last night: At the moment mathmatically we need 94 points to win promotion. The maximum points for the following teams are :- QPR 93 Derby 93 Wigan 92 Brighton 88 Forest 87 Reading 86 Blackburn 82 Watford 81 Ipswich 81 So as the above teams drop points you can deduct from the above totals, i.e. if Watford or Ipswich drop 1 more point they cannot overtake us, (although they could if their goal average was better). If the top team (as in QPR at the moment) lose points you can deduct from their total and move them down the list, this will reduce the number of points required. with us getting points and these teams dropping points the list will shrink fast. So just 14 points needed from 11 games for automatic promotion. Incredible. Can't wait till we can add Burnley to the list!
