this whole plastic fan BS!

Recommended Posts

reading through some of the threads on here about the "plastic fan" and I cant help but laugh, why does it bother some people so much?

fair enough some fans go further then others on behalf of city, and fair play to them, I just don't get why there is a bit of hate to the fans who don't go to games, but still support Leicester as much as the biggest city fan, surely gaining newer fans is a good thing right? it shows that our club is expanding, more people are starting to take notice, and can only look good on us to have more people walking round in city shirts, and following the team!

the term "plastic fan" does baffle me and tbh I think its a bit of a pathetic term to use

But will they be there if we get relegated and become mid table championship team again?

Honestly, it doesn't matter. I've been to between one and five matches a season for the past ten years. Before that, maybe 15 matches a year from the early 1990s. In the 70s and 80s, maybe two a season. In the late 50s/early 60s, 25 a season minimum. There were good reasons why my attendance varied so much: kids, career, money, freedom, location.

When I am not at a match now, I listen to/watch it (thank goodness for the internet); before that I used to read about it. I subscribe to The Fox, I've got a dozen replica shirts, I've even got a pair of LCFC-branded underpants. None of which - NONE of which - makes me more or less of a fan than any other City supporter.

We do it in our own way: my beef is not with so-called plastic fans but with any fan - even if they go to 40+ games a season - who moans at the players, the manager, the backroom staff and the owners. For my money, they should all fvck off and support a team that won the European Cup, not once, but twice. It's where they belong.

I think it's more people getting paranoid and got a chip on their shoulders about being accused as such.

I have no problem with anyone else's level (Level is the wrong word really, i'm not saying anyone is better than another) of support, we're all Leicester fans what I don't get and I know it will happen next season is all the fans who can't afford games or can't get to games, e.t.c, in the past 10 years are gonna all of a sudden come into money and have lot more free time I take it? All coincidentally?

People are obviously worried about being seen as a gloryboy or a 'plastic', e.t.c, why worry about it, don't let it bother you, don't seem so needy and paranoid, get on with it. I think the people who feel they are being accused as such are making more of a deal of it than people who have been to a majority of games during the last 10 years.

Anything i've said has been in jest, knowing i'll get a reaction, rightly or wrongly, however my point i've made in the 2nd paragraph I do feel quite strongly about.

An awful lot of people seem to think that they need to justify themselves. ...

Why? and who to?

This is our time, embrace it and at EVERY possible opportunity ram our current glorious success down the throats of all those sad, pitiful and envious fans of those small time, small minded inbreds such as Forest, Derby, Cov etc etc

I have a house full of plastics. The kids and the mrs have slowly been paying more attention to the season. Sometimes even watching games with me, asking how were doing and now were champs. I have a house full of leicester fans. I love it.

Clearly a plastic fan speaking.

f_applause.gif I agree with this entirely. Too many people are precious about it and that's where the problem is.

Plenty of people will end up getting ST next year not because they've suddenly become fans again but because it will give them a better chance of getting to see games, they may well have to do it knowing they will not see enough games to justify the cost but that's a sacrifice they will be prepared as fans to make that they have had to in the last 10 years because of the poor attendances.

I think the 'plastic fans' nonsense is mainly mooted by the kids isn't it? I'm sure when I was 14 and in SK1 I'd have said the same thing. I'm sure I would have thought it. ie. I'm hard and a better fan than someone who don't go to every game, don't sing etc..

I'm a long time season ticket holder and I'd support a blanket ban on the use of the term on here. Or an automatic word change rather like what was done to "Sheehan" for a while. I can't imagine other clubs turn on each other as readily as our fans do.

Cuz some people like to show how big their cock is and wave it about in public.

Then the poor people who respond to such nonsense are so insecure it's unreal.

I support my club as much and as often as I can. I don't begrudge anyone who really loves or has an interest in the city.

What I can't stand is ****ers who have no real ****ing clue and want to come see man city, utd etc but if that bothers someone, I'd wonder why they cared that I hold that believe.

Never really worked out what a plastic is. Either you are there to see leicester or your a ****ing cretin.

Rant over.

I do get annoyed by people who are only interested in the club when we're succeeding (like, really succeeding) because it's basically a form of glory hunting. If we're all Leicester City fans (as people who hate the word 'plastic' continue to say) then surely there's some sort of responsibility to support the team whatever the situation?

That said it does go over the top quite often which isn't very pleasant.
