Spudulike Posted 24 April 2014 Share Posted 24 April 2014 ... the one that gets presented at the Donny match next week. Is this the same one that we used to see on MotD in what seemed like every end of season at Anfield during the eighties ?? ... so the one we got in 2009 was the same one we had for winning the old 2nd Div title 34 years ago ?? Confused.com The trophy you get for winning the Championship is the old First Division trophy. The trophy you get for winning League One isn't the old Second Division trophy, in fact they don't even use the one we won in 2009 anymore as it was designed to look like a Coca-Cola bottle. Saw it at the National Football Museum last week with the SkyBet ribbons on it, they just change the base with the winners engraved on it.

Number 6 Posted 24 April 2014 Share Posted 24 April 2014 To be honest it's a much nicer trophy than the Premier League one imo. Classier. Probably soon be a golden figure of a punter crying if the league continues with the same sponsors though.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 24 April 2014 Share Posted 24 April 2014 Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the football league trophy nicknamed as "The Silver Lady"? On account of the bird on top of course.
Ricey Posted 24 April 2014 Share Posted 24 April 2014 The one in museum retired in 1992 but it's obvs an exact replica used now. Its said in the museum that it was awarded to the winners of the First Division until 1992 (due introduction of the Premier League). Wiki states: "The winners of the Championship receive the Football League Championship trophy, the same trophy as the old First Division champions were handed prior to the Premier League's inception in 1992"

ealingfox Posted 24 April 2014 Share Posted 24 April 2014 Possibly a stupid question, but when they lift the trophy will they be facing the dugout or the east stand?

The Premiership trophy is vulgar and tasteless whose sole design brief must have been "make it look big, because big is good, right"
