Manwell Pablo Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 Had to be done. For no other reason other than it's a hook for that pwick Pwride Of The Midlands who awgued for so long that we were clearly favorites for the gwoup and Woy should walk should we not make it through the gwoup. Should the obv(w)iois unfould,do you think he should go. Well done mate, you've made six month's making yourself look cluelsess and here is the pinnacle. conLAD logan Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 Don't necessarily think it's his fault, just a combination of it being a hard group, a team in transition and some hard luck. Needs to be given till the euros so we can see how he deals with replacing the likes of Gerrard and jagielka
Harry - LCFC Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 This is far from 'the pinnacle' IMO. Clearly we aren't ready for big things yet but with a bit of time we might develop into a team that are. I think we've made progress with Hodgson and I prefer the football we're playing now. We're probably going to go out of this World Cup in pretty disappointing fashion but personally I think that hides a better way of playing that we've gone with. Manwell Pablo Posted 20 June 2014 Author Share Posted 20 June 2014 Hey, dont forget Italy, as we know theyre not a good side. Yeah Much better midfleid, if you ignore the 35 year old who ran the game and bloke who drove a 20 yard laser into our bottom corner, Daniel De Rossi is no Jordan Henderson. Stadt Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 It'd be back to square one, there's not many appointments that could build on this. I'd like to see Martinez be the next England manager but if it was to happen it's a few years down the line.

Diego Lugano couldn't get in West Brom's side? ****s sake So Hodgson should go based on 'events' that happened outside of the World Cup? I genuinely don't know this hence me asking - were you one of the fans before the World Cup squads were chosen begging for Hodgson to choose some youngsters and to play them - Sterling, Barkley, Henderson, Sturridge, Welbeck - this is all their first tournament and obviously they still have a lot to learn. Hodgson was urged to take these kinds of players and we expect to be firing on all cylinders immediately? I say give Hodgson til Euro 2016. It's not like we've let ourselves down in terms of performance in this tournament. Italy and Uruguay are hardly easy to beat on any other day either. Dan LCFC Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 Not even sure. He's not terrible but we should be able to do better. But we can't. Depressing. He isn't the main problem though.

Guest ttfn Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 Jose Mourinho is the next England manager, but fortunately for him he will have a good young pool to pick from, we are getting better...I really don't think that's the case at all.I think in time Sterling, Shaw and Jones will make fantastic players. Sturridge is already a really good centre forward. Beyond that I'm completely unsure about Barkley. He's an exciting player for sure but he's still really raw and it's difficult to tell how far he can go. Wilshere will never realise his potential. Other than them who is there? Henderson is average at this level, Hart is ok and then we're really scraping the barrel.
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 As a Wales fan I hope he stays! Seriously though, he should never have been hired. At club level you can build a squad around a system you want to play. Barca is the most obvious example but you could also say Jose at Chelsea the first time, Pulis at Stoke, even Pearson here at Leicester. You make signings to fit in to your philosophy of football. In international football you have to do it backwards, you need a manager who'll get the most out of a limited pool of players and Hodgson has never displayed a desire to embrace keen attacking play. The best teams in this tournament press ridiculously quickly, are very fit and athletic, counter attack dangerously and don't idle in possession. Besides a few brief spells against Italy has that ever been Hodgson's England?
richardsfoxes Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 No one who could do a better job who is English in my opinion. I still think his tactics we're to negative, why not have a go, the fact he never played Barkley, Shaw, lallana etc from the start baffles me. Baines hasn't had a good tournament the step to much for him, why he continues to play welbeck i will never know, offers NOTHING, lets hope for something better in 2 years time. Bring in mourinho, arrogant enough for the job whether he would want is another thing.

Col city fan Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 The issue isnt who the England manager is, or who the next one is. Our failure at International level goes much deeper than that. We could bring in Mourinho, Klopp or whoever and still wouldnt win the World Cup. Or they are the reigning Copa America champions who just got to the semi finals of the confederations cup.... Strokes Posted 20 June 2014 Share Posted 20 June 2014 no manager could do much with that defence, I don't hold him responsible. He could have tried several different varieties but all would have ended the same.

Our failure at International level goes much deeper than that. We could bring in Mourinho, Klopp or whoever and still wouldnt win the World Cup. Harry! There ya go... As Finners pointed out Col the manager has to setup the team up a certain way to have a chance of being successful. We have the players to play a pressing, counter attacking style but Roy can't see it for some reason!
