Ilkeston away pre match chat. Tuesday 22 July (7.30pm KO)

Leicester City’s pre-season campaign finally gets underway on Tuesday 22 July (7.30pm KO) when they travel to the New Manor Ground for a clash with local side Ilkeston FC.

After returning to training on 7 July, the Foxes flew our to Bad Radkersburg in Austria for a gruelling warm weather training camp that Nigel Pearson and his staff hope will help the players hit the ground running in pre-season. 
 
It looks to be a fully fit squad for City’s first outing of pre-season, and City fans attending the game cold even get a first glimpse of new signings Marc Albirhgotn, Ben Hamer and Matthew Upson, who joined on free transfers earlier this month. 
 
Opposition 
Ilkeston FC were established just four years ago in 2010 from the ashes of Ilkeston Town, who ceased to exist in September of that same year due to financial difficulties. 
 
The reformed club, Ilkeston FC, were quickly admitted to the Northern Premier League First Division South in 2011, before securing an impressive promotion to the Northern Premier Division via the play-offs, where they currently play their football. 
 
Ilkeston will be keen to get themselves in tip-top shape in time for the new season to ensure they improve on their league position from last season, when they finished in 17th position. 
 
Last term was the Robins’ second in the Evo-Stick League Northern Premier Division after coming 12th in their debut season of 2012/13, however their season did bring some silverware are they lifted the Derbyshire Senior Cup for a second year running - beating Glossop North End 2-0 in the final. 
 
The Robins play their games at the New Manor Ground in Derbyshire, where they have since the ground opened in 1992. The Stadium has a capacity of 3,029, with several hundred Foxes fans expected to be in attendance on the day. 
 
Key Man:
Centre back Joe Maguire was in fine form last term as he helped his team avoid relegation and scooped the player of the year award for the second time in as many seasons, making him a key figure in the Robins’ defensive armoury.

By Car: From M1 take A610 exit to Ripley/Nottingham at Junction 26. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A610 then take the A6096/B6010 exit toward Ilkeston/Eastwood. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Gin Close Way/A6096, turn right onto Newton’s Lane and continue onto Ashworth Road. New Manor Ground will be on the left. 
 
By Train: The New Manor Ground is located 2.8 miles (4.5 km) from Langley Mill Railway Station.

Also imagine IF he has signed by then, Leo Ulloa, might get a bit of a game should he genuinely not be injured. Even if its just say 10 minutes?

 

Campbell might be in the same position should he pass his medical too. Looks like everything is falling into place at the right time though!

My mate bumped into the players at graz airport.

A lot of the 1st team were buzzing for this just to get a game under their belts before flying of to thailand.

So even if it's a half or an hour reckon you will see most the 1st team at some point.

Nudge wanted the full 90 from what I hear.

Last year I went because it was advertised as our first team and the best player on the pitch was George Taft. And it ended 0-0 lol

It will be a Leicester academy side again

It won't be. The academy are playing tomorrow night. It will be a different 11 each half of first team players.
