Leicester v Everton - Pointless Friendly Post Match Thread - 1-0

Recommended Posts

pleasing, we looked sharp going forward if occasionally shaky at the back. vardy is going to have the whole league on toast again it seems, mahrez can glide past a man at any level.

kasper threw in a few nice saves and on another day it could've been 3 or 4 but the score isn't the main thing, it's just the fact we genuinely looked pretty good.

Everton did nothing, absolutely nothing.... Would be hard pushed to say they even gained fitness benefits from that match

We looked ok though, players gave a lot too so would have impact on fitness

Mahrez, Knockaert & Albrighton all shone for me.

Nugent had a cracker disallowed for being a fraction offside

Good run out, some good performances and all the running should have aided fitness & match sharpness, but against such uninterested opposition I don't think we can take anything from it

Not going to overreact, just like I wouldn't have overreacted after a defeat. It's a nice workout and granted it is nice to win, but both teams will be totally different on August 16th.

Can't get too ahead of ourselves, luckily I thnk Nigel will tell the players this. I think if the teams were played switched halves, we'd have had a lot more problems. They also didn't have Baines or Barkley.

But yea, it's good. And they'll be a few more Leicester fans in Thailand now.

Vardy has to play as the main striker, in the middle he is so dangerous stretching the opposition defence running in behind and he's wasted having to track back on that left wing plus we have wingers who all deserve a start in their favoured position. Competition is gonna be tight between Mahrez/Knockaert/Albrighton all 3 of them could start and offer slightly different things but for me I would be inclined to play Mahrez and Albrighton wide with Knockaert in that advanced middle role that GTF played in the 2nd half. Aside from left back (toss up between Konchesky and Schlupp) the rest of the team picks itself really.

Schmeichel

De Laet

Morgan

Moore

Konchesky/Schlupp

Albrighton

Drinkwater

James

Mahrez

Knockaert

Vardy

Nice for our owners to see us lift a trophy in front of Thai fans, they really don't meddle with the footballing operation at all and, touchwood, so far they've been nothing but good for us so this is the sort of thing that hopefully keeps them inclined to maintain the status quo.

We looked good.

If we lost we couldn't take much from it, it'd be passed off as 'it's just a friendly, it's for fitness' therefore the same can be said despite us winning. We looked good, it's pleasing, positive and i'm happy, but we can't take too much from it and shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.

Hopefully it's the same outcome when the season starts, hopefully Everton are as bad as they were today and we are as good as we were today (If not better).

I'd say Everton just edged the first half - they were probably the better team, but there was only 1 team in it in the second half.
