Grandad. Posted 28 July 2014 Share Posted 28 July 2014 Well Remy has failed a medical, Redknapp believes he hasn't. I don't know what to believe but I was genuinely excited about the Remy signing, Rodgers must have another target lined up. God knows how our medical staff seemed to deem something wrong with Remy, yet found nothing wrong with Carroll, Joe Cole and Kewell. - but if there was something to think about regarding Remy's heart then fair enough. Feel free, to add any football chat in here that you would like to discuss with me. Get your posts in quick though, this thread won't be around for long and I will more than likely be banned for this. Regards, Uncle Albert. I know, I can't remember a side taking so many players from another side in one go. Not that they are bad players, also can't remember the dismantling of a side in one summer, with shaw and chambers also gone. The money they have made from this side alone must have paid for the cost of running the academy for the next 50 years plus.
Langston Posted 28 July 2014 Share Posted 28 July 2014 Aren't Southampton after Rojo for just shy of £12 million? He's not exactly old, fantastic business if they bring him in for that price after netting a silly amount for Shaw.

Hugo Sanchez Posted 28 July 2014 Share Posted 28 July 2014 Southampton surely dead certs to be relegated now. Their had all the best player minus jay rodriguez taken of them. Even their manager as fooked off, he must have known it was coming tbf, why he fooked of first. Amazing to think how many good players have come from Southampton in the last 7 years and how none of them are left. Must be horrible all these great player's coming through. Knowing they will be sold on all the time. They must have made some money in the last 7 years.

Knowing they will be sold on all the time. They must have made some money in the last 7 years. I've said this before and I'll say it again - any team outside the top 6/7 who don't get a billionaire coming in get strip mined as soon as they have one good season. The established order are going to stay there for a long time, barring teams like Chelsea and Man City getting enough money to stop the other big boys raiding their best players. You could make the argument that the money from the sales could go to other good players for the lesser teams and they could mount a challenge that way...but when has that ever happened recently? Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 28 July 2014 Share Posted 28 July 2014 Is shameful. Makes me think if we had a good season, finished top 10, what chance any of the players who got us there or big Nige staying? Basically nil. So to succeed is to fail, great advert for progression in 'the greatest league in the world'. LFC, horrible club.

Southampton have always sold players, history tells you that. If the club had serious ambition then they wouldn't of sold Chambers, Shaw, Lallana, Lambert and Lovren, maybe Schniederlin as well to follow. Basically nil. So to succeed is to fail, great advert for progression in 'the greatest league in the world'. LFC, horrible club. It's happened for ages, it will always happen. These top clubs have the money, they can come in and pinch any player they want. It's whether the player is loyal and wants to stay, I mean Le Tissier turned down Chelsea and Newcastle in his day. At least Lallana and Lambert are English though. Fed up with City and Chelsea just going abroad. Premier League is a mess.
Nick Posted 28 July 2014 Share Posted 28 July 2014 Liverpool's summer signings so far Striker Rickie Lambert, 32, was signed for £4m from Southampton Midfielder Adam Lallana, 25, was signed for £25m from Southampton Midfielder Emre Can, 20, was signed for £10m from Bayer Leverkusen Winger Lazar Markovic, 20, was signed for £20m from Benfica Defender Dejan Lovren, 25, was signed for £20m from Southampton Brendan Rodgers may be a bit David Brent but he's not been afraid to spend his Suarez pennies, that's for sure. Grandad. Only Lovren has come out of the Suarez money, apparently mate. Money used before him was the Champions League money and the budget John Henry already had lined out for Rodgers. Striker and two full backs are the top of our list now, plus Origi is to be announced any hour now for £10 million.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 28 July 2014 Share Posted 28 July 2014 Maybe wasn't clear that the full stop separating the 2 statements was to make them unrelated. LFC is a horrible club, not because of gutting Southampton, but because the fans have a sense of entitlement, consider themselves the best fans in the world, have stuck by a racist thug time and again, and most irritatingly end everything they ever say on social media with #YNWA, oh and that 'scouse whit', Jesus wept. Grandad. Posted 28 July 2014 Author Share Posted 28 July 2014 What a horrible club, for buying English talent and having them playing in the best club competition in the world, horrible bastard club exposing our English players to a better way of football and progressing them as players, which can only benefit the national side, same as Man United and Arsenal the horrible clubs. Langston Posted 28 July 2014 Share Posted 28 July 2014 Grandad - d'you think Rodgers is buying too many players? Seems like a lot of signings considering (in my opinion, from the outside looking in, obviously) the squad only needed fine tuning / Suarez replacing. Wouldn't surprise me to see you lot hit double figures in terms of incomings, seems a little excessive.

So you'd still need another striker to come in. Saw something on twitter saying Remy hasn't failed a medical it was just that Borini wouldn't agree to moving to Sunderland. I'm pretty sure it's not only Southampton that the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs poach off of, though they are the most egregious example. And exactly how are Southampton going to profit from this? Certainly not in success on the pitch, unless something totally unheard of happens... I don't exactly blame the big clubs for doing it either, nor do I have anything against Liverpool personally - for me it's just symptomatic of a broken, repetitive system. Wouldn't surprise me to see you lot hit double figures in terms of incomings, seems a little excessive. We didn't win the League in my eyes for two reasons last year mate.. 1. Conceded too many goals because our defence is shit. 2. We didn't have a big enough squad for when our plan A didn't work, no plan B. Add to the fact this season we have an extra 6 games in the Champions League, minimum and our squad minus the 13 players who you would say are good enough, then you need to add a lot depth to the squad. Still not the biggest of squads, as I can see the departures of Reina and Agger in the coming weeks. Currently we have.. Keepers: Mignolet and Reina. Full Backs: Johnson, Enrique and Flanagan. Centre Backs: Skrtel, Sakho, Lovren, Agger and Toure. Centre Mids: Can, Gerrard, Allen, Lucas and Henderson. Wingers/Attacking Players: Sterling, Coutinho, Markovic and Lallana. Strikers: Sturridge and Lambert. Not a great deal, yeah I have not named Kelly, Borini, Ibe, Coates and co.. but they shouldn't be anywhere near a Champions League squad. A few more need to come in!
