Foxestalk's Friendly Tipping Competition

Recommended Posts

Idea cropped up a few times in the betting thread and then more prominently in the syndicate thread so here goes.

Foxestalk has a lot of betters (is that a word?) as seen from the betting thread. People moan about their losses, brag about their winnings and talk about their fancies. But there's not a lot of actual tipping. So thought i'd make a new thread purely for a tipping competition/league. Pretty simple idea really, anyone who wants to join can do so and can post their tips. Was thinking something along the line of two tips a week, a weekend one, done before midday on a Saturday, for any event happening between Saturday lunchtime and the close of Monday night football. And a midweek one, done before midday on a Tuesday, which would involve any tips you have between Tuesday afternoon and Friday night. If you've got tips for a Saturday morning you're a freak so you're not involved. This is so it mainly incorporates the footballing schedule, but the tipping comp will be open to tips on any event, provided you can prove the odds on more obscure markets are correct lol. You know who's going out of x factor at the weekend? Give us a tip and a brief write up and you're in. Your mate's dog going in the 7.17 at Hove on a Friday night? He's promised you it's got all 4 legs in working order? Tell us all about it.

Each "tipster" would need to post their tips in this thread. Ideally singles or doubles only, as someone could "tip" a twelvefold that flukes its way in and end up unbeatable even if they lose every other bet this year. Anyone disagree? You post your selections and the best odds you can find. Debating saying we could even use MBS in the league if anyone wants, so a losing tip could be nulled if you can show us all that you would've got your money back from your bookie. Not sure though? A brief write up would be nice, see Donut or Maybes posts in the syndicate thread for example, just a quick "xxxx have won 3 in a row and have score 10 goals, at home to bottom of the league, THIS IS A BANKER GUYS COME ON" would be fine.

Every tip posted would have an imaginary £10 placed on it in the league, and from there a table will be formed. Eg. ScouseFox tips Leicester (v man u) @ 9/2. He loses (shock). After week one, ScouseFox is on -£10 and bottom of the league. Meanwhile, Donut & Maybes have both tipped up different doubles, one @ 2/1 and one @ even money. They'd enter the table at +£20 and +£10 respectively etc. You get the idea.

Anyone up for it? This weekend can be a trial run, post any tips you've got and we'll see how much interest there is and how well it goes and then hopefully next week, maybe the week after we can start the league/competition for real if we've got enough people involved.

Obviously follow at your own risk and stakes, this thread is more for the competition, the chat, the camaraderie as opposed to actually getting rich (although a win would be nice!!)

* mods if you want this to piss off to the betting thread then fair dos, just thought it'd be better out in the open not in our dingy little hideout away from everyone else.

Crop of my treble bet posted in the Syndicate thread.

Boston (8th) vs Gloucester (19th) BTTS (Conference North) Odds: 8/13

Out of the 9 matches involving Boston this season, BTTS has landed 7 out of 9 times. Boston have scored in all but one of their matches and have also conceded in all but one of their matches.

Gloucester on the other hand BTTS  has landed twice out of four occasions at home but on the road BTTS has landed in every game, five in total.

Solihull Moors (16th) vs Stockport County (5th) (Conference North) Odds: 6/10
Solihull have only played 3 home games this season. BTTS has landed on the last two occasions but their opening game was a 0-0 draw with Colwyn Bay. On the road they have scored in the last 4 games, but drew a blank in their first away game.

Stockport save their best form for at home having won 4/5 games at Edgeley Park. On the road BTTS has only landed 2/4 times both coming in their most recent two matches. They have only won 1 away from home this season. Even if they don't manage a win surely they will muster a goal against free scoring Solihull.

DOUBLE: 8/5 (Boylesports)

Love the idea, so i am going to go with my tips that I posted in the syndicate thread.

Im going for Torquay at (4/9) to beat Dover Athletic and FC Porto (1/7) to beat Boavista.

The £10 double will return £16.42 for a £6.42 profit. Not huge, but im going for glacial building.

just what we're looking for. i'll leave it for this weekend, people can post similar tips all they want so we can get an idea of what's going on and hopefully get something started this time next week. if we do i'll keep and update the table/league after each round etc.

+£6.42 is better than the -£10s i'm sure we'll see from some!

MK DONS (vs Crewe) @ 8/15

Mk have had a good start to the season. We all saw what they did to United, winning 4-0 and looking like a good football team. They beat Barnsley 5-3 away last weekend, and were 5-0 up before switching off late on. They've won 4 of their last 6. Crewe are already quite heavily odds on to get relegated and look a poor outfit. Mk win should be a banker.

BTTS Bristol Rovers vs Woking @ 4/5

Bristol Rovers are into the swing of conference life now, winning 3 in a row, scoring 7 times, but also conceding 3. BTTS has landed in 4 of their last 6, and whilst they look to have clicked going forward their defence still looks slightly vulnerable. At home you'd expect them to attack from the off. Woking are not a bad side either, and until recently were scoring for fun. A return to goalscoring form looks quite possible here and 4/5 looks nice enough odds imo.

That'd be my £10 double for this weekend, paying £27.50

BTTS and Forest to win - 7/2

Forest are scoring for fun at the minute and Milwall are always good for a goal at the Den.

BTTS and Chesterfield to win - 7/2

Chesterfield are on fire at the minute, especially the young Irish lad up front. Doncaster really need to push on so I think it'll be a tight game with goals.

£10 double pays £202.50.

Aberdeen v Ross County (Home Win)

Aberdeen started the SPL season slowly, but have been much better in recent weeks and put up a brave fight in a valiant 2-1  away defeat to Celtic. Ross County are yet to pick up a point in this years SPL in the first 6 games, conceding a whopping 16 goals in the process

Brighton v Blackpool (Home Win)

Brighton have always been very steady at home, winning two of the first 3 games at the AMEX and only thwarted by a Sheffield Wednesday smash and grab earlier in the season. Blackpool's problems have been well documented, and having only scored 3 games in the opening 7 games it looks like a home win is a formality.

Tenner double pays £24.10 at Coral.

Millwall vs Nottingham Forest

Millwall have scored in 10 of 15 league games at home in 2014, and the two games between Forest and Millwall last season provided seven goals in total.

BTTS and Forest to win.

West Ham vs Liverpool

Liverpool have scored in 16 consecutive away Premier League games, and will set a new record if they score again this weekend. Last season, Liverpool won each fixture 4-1 and 2-1.

BTTS and Liverpool to win.

£10 returns £183.75 with BWIN.

MK Dons 8/15: MK Dons have had a decent start to the season all be it losing at home last time out to Bradford, they face bottom of the table Crewe Alexandra at home tomorrow which looks to be a very favourable fixture, Crewe have picked up 4 points from there last 2 games but still sit rock bottom and have only gained 1 point from 4 games on there travels this season. It is the perfect opportunity for the Dons to bounce back from there midweek defeat.

Norwich 1/2: Norwich are currently the form team in the championship being unbeaten for 6 games (Won 5, Drawn 1), they face a youthful Birmingham side who have yet to taste victory in there 3 away games to date (Lost 2, Drawn 1) Birmingham's last away game saw them concede 4 goals at Wigan and the free scoring Norwich side will look to have it in them to lead there side to a comfortable victory.

£10 double returns £23 via Ladbrokes

Is it too late?

Northampton 8/11- Unbeaten at home with three wins in four games with just two goals conceded. Their last game was a 5-1 thrashing of lowly Hartlepool. They playing Accrington who have lost all of their away games this season  including 3-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Oxford last time out.

Norwich 4/9- On a bit of a streak with two away wins with 7 goals scored in their last two games. Their home record is excellent with two wins from three games against strong opponents (Blackburn and Watford with three goals scored in each game and only one conceded)

Odds with WH is 1.49/1 so £10 returns £24.94

My mate just informed me Accrington got a new manager so that could be behind Northampton odds and the fact they are 2-1 down!

So no-one won? It's not just me then  lol

donut's conservative approach should see him make a profit unless porto lose @ 1/7 tomorrow. other than that (unless i've read a result wrong somewhere) the 8 of us who've had a go have lost yeah lol

you gonna throw your name into the hat for next week?

I might win, depending on what happens tomorrow night. Just going for slow steady profits to get me up and running

Ive got this bet on in real life, but only with £5 from my bet365 account. Just going for regular small wins.
