Pardew

With Newcastle currently 2-0 down at home against Hull, do we reckon he's as good as gone?

Anyone rate him as a manager?

I think he's okay at putting together a squad, but he always seems to really struggle to arrest slumps and this time, I reckon it will cost him.

He is ok, good enough for a bottom prem/top champ side but Newcastle want more than that and he really can't go up a level.

tbf he made a rod for his own back almost getting champions league football the first year, that was obviously a fluke and now the ****** that support them think they should be doing that every year. they're a bog standard bottom half club who will carry on finishing bottom half.

He's got to go. They're utter shit.

They were far from shit today apparently, conceded two stunners.

There's so many stats that go against him, it's ridiculous how poor they've been generally over the last couple of seasons.

I've got a mate who's a Newcastle fan and he's stopped going because of how bad it is. Not just due to Pardew, mainly due to Ashley. Reckons they're destined for relegation and that he's absolutely livid with todays events as they effectively bottled protesting.

I think the issue is more with Mike Ashley personally. Any player that Pardew has at his disposal thats half decent will be sold, and he knows that. In recent seasons, he has lost the midfield bite of Cabaye, the goals of Demba Ba and Loic Remy, Debuchy's forward intent, and thats just to name a few. The ill fated director of football experiment with Joe Kinnear made him and the club look like fools, and didnt improve the squad in any way either.

Despite that, hes kept the club in a stable league position, even delivered a european place albeit this was exceeding all expectations.

I dont watch anything like the amount of Newcastle that their fans do, but surely there has to be a realisation from them that Ashley is only interested in the bottom line and isnt giving Pardew the tools to do a good job. Or as good a job as the fans percieve he should be doing, perhaps Ashley is quite content with Pardew just keeping Newcastle up while they conveyor belt out the talent and have a beautiful profit and loss account.

Its good to read something thought out..

I've never been a fan of Pardew particularly, but I think he clearly wants to get it right at Newcastle, which must be nie on impossible under the owner.

Am I right in saying that Pardew doesn't sign the players and the board and Ashley pick them? If so that must make his job horrendously hard.

While I think the whole situation at Newcastle is a mess (especially with the club always letting quality players go, sometimes for bargain prices), they often do get the first part of transfer business right, usually bringing in decent young players from France. I think Cabella and Rivière will both cut it at this level soon enough. Ayoze from Spain also has loads of potential.

When I look at their starting XI vs Hull, it doesn't look like relegation fodder on paper. However, the combination of a meddling board, upset supporters (who probably have unrealistic expectations, and who probably are frustrated with Ashley & Co), and players needing time to settle is causing Newcastle to underachieve.

With their current squad maybe but Newcastle are a big club (bigger than Chelsea and Man City pre-Roman and Mansour) and, in my humble opinion, they could have been a consistent top 6 team if they had more investment at the right time.

Was it newcastle who last season organised a mass walk out during a game as a form of protest only for a few hundred to walk out to the applause of thousands who decided to stay?

Apparently, he's fielding a weakened side in the Capital One Cup tomorrow.

That will go down well, Newcastle fans who are desperate to win a trophy (and a match at the moment) seeing their manager not take an opportunity seriously.

Yes agree with all your points.I dont think its unrealistic though that fans expect a top 6 place, plus they are a big club, if they could offer top 8 they would see 40k fans easy.

Pardew is being let down, from decent management support.I believe he wants to stay because they do have potential. They have lost a lot of belief, one reason I believe is something all teams need, that is players staying long enough, where fans can have a rapport, where fans and 2-3 players can associate together with their club, longer than 1-2 seasons

.

Pardews problem is that it is the quality plays, that drift off too early.

IMO Newcastle with Pardew will climb out the mire into which Ashley tries to repeatidly push them into. They'll find their form, but once again fail to reach the heights of their fans expectations. Top 10 but no top 6.
