davieG Posted 11 November 2014 Share Posted 11 November 2014 Leicester City’s loan contingent have made an impressive start to the 2014/15 season, with eight players out across four different tiers of English football. Development Squad forward Jacob Blyth has been an influential part of Burton Albion’s side since joining the Brewers on loan at the start of the season until January. The clinical frontman has played 13 times for the Staffordshire outfit so far this season, netting three times in the process and helping his side to six wins in all competitions. Blyth will look to continue his fine form for his side, who currently sit fifth in the table, when they travel to league-leaders Wycombe on Monday 17 November. Michael Cain made his first-team debut for the Foxes in late August in the Club’s 1-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Shrewsbury Town at King Power Stadium. After giving a good account of himself in the centre of the pitch, Walsall showed their interest in Cain, and the Development Squad midfielder joined the side on a one-month loan deal, making his debut for the Saddlers last month in the 1-0 League 1 defeat to Crawley. Appearing three times since then, the youngster has helped Walsall to two league wins, pulling his side away from the drop-zone, while playing 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw in the first round of the FA Cup on Saturday against Shrewsbury Town. Cain will hope to play a part in Walsall’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with Sheffield United on Wednesday before a League 1 tie against high-flying Peterborough United three days later. Plying his trade at right-back, James Pearson has proved his capabilities at Under-21 level for the Foxes, and opted to join Conference outfit Wrexham on a one-month loan deal at the end of October. The defender has since gone on to represent the Welsh side on two separate occasions. His debut came in the league against fourth-placed Halifax Town, helping Wrexham to their first clean sheet in six games in a 0-0 draw. And Pearson also played 90 minutes in the FA Cup first round tie with Woking. Wrexham eventually ran out 3-0 winners, setting up a second round clash with either Stevenage or Maidstone United pending their first round replay. The youngster will also look to repeat that result with his side when they travel to the Kingfield Stadium to again face Woking in the league on Wednesday. Under-21 winger Adam Dawson recently ended his one-month loan spell at Nuneaton Town after playing five times for the Conference side. The Development Squad midfielder netted the winner in a 2-1 victory against Lincoln City on Saturday 4 October before scoring a dramatic 90th minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Macclesfield Town on Saturday 1 November. Dawson also enjoyed a spell at Notts County where he made three first-team appearances in August against Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday and Fleetwood Town. Harry Panayiotou has had an enjoyable start to the 2014/15 campaign after scoring on his international debut for St. Kitts and Nevis in early October. The Development Squad striker caught the eye of League 1 side Port Vale soon after, and joined the Valiants after returning from his outings with his nation. The Academy graduate is yet to make an appearance for the Staffordshire-based team after being named as an unused substitute in Vale’s 2-1 win over Colchester United earlier this month but represented City’s Under-21s in the 3-2 win over Manchester United on 3 November. Panayiotou will look to play his first game for the club when they host an in-form Rochdale side, with the possibility of coming up against a City teammate in Conrad Logan. Forward Gary Taylor-Fletcher joined Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on a one-month loan deal at the end of October, seeking first team football after only playing twice for City this season. The 33-year-old has featured in three of the last four Owls fixtures, helping Wednesday to draws against Norwich, Charlton and Rotherham. Taylor-Fletcher will again look to get some game time when the Sheffield club visit fellow Championship outfit Huddersfield Town in the early kick-off on Saturday. Goalkeeper Conrad Logan initially joined newly-promoted League 1 side Rochdale on a one-month loan deal in August, but after a productive spell with the club, Logan extended his deal until January 2015. The 28-year-old shot-stopper has played a pivotal role in the Dale’s impressive start to the 2014/15 campaign, helping them to fifth in the league so far this season. Keeping seven clean sheets in 16 appearances, the Irishman has saved three penalties for the club, most recently in the 3-0 win over Preston North End at Spotland earlier this month. And Logan could help his side up to third in League 1 with victory at Vale Park over Harry Panayiotou’s Port Vale on Saturday. Midfielder Paul Gallagher has been a central figure in Preston North End’s 2014/15 campaign after agreeing a season-long loan with the Lilywhites in the summer. Returning to Deepdale after spending the majority of last season on loan at the club, the former Scotland international has played 19 times for the Lancashire side so far this season. Gallagher enjoyed a particularly productive spell at the start of October, netting in three consecutive games, first against Colchester United, and then twice against Port Vale in both League 1 and the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. Preston, who currently sit second in the table, entertain Bradford City in League 1 and aim to open up a gap between themselves and third-placed Swindon Town, who Gallagher’s side lost 1-0 to last time out. davieG Posted 21 November 2014 Author Share Posted 21 November 2014 Leicester City Development Squad striker Simonas Stankevicius has joined Conference Premier side Nuneaton Town on a two-month loan deal. The 19-year-old, who is a full international with Lithuania, joined Steve Beaglehole’s Under-21s group in the summer after progressing impressively from the Club’s Under-18s squad. A powerful and talented forward, Stankevicius is a threat in the air and possesses an ability to score spectacular goals from outside the box. He joins a Nuneaton Town side who sit second bottom of the table, and will be hoping to help steer them away from danger – starting with Saturday’s home clash with Southport – who sit just three places above them in the table. The former Stoke City youngster has been a regular with City’s Under-21s during the past two seasons, scoring some spectacular goals for Steve Beaglehole’s side in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League and showing a potent combination of power and pace.
