Danizen Posted 24 November 2014 Share Posted 24 November 2014 If you listen to the Man U fans, he should have got five just in that game but no, he's on three.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 24 November 2014 Share Posted 24 November 2014 It's hilarious how much abuse he gets on here when he hardly gets any cover at all. He's constantly left on the right hand side of the pitch on his own, with no cover infront of him. At one point on Saturday, for a good couple of minutes, the winger infront of RDL (Mahrez) was on the left side, along with Konch and Schlupp! I actually thought Mahrez provided a great bit of cover on Saturday as a defensive winger, in fact he spent more time in our half than theirs! It's his inability in other areas too - distribution is the main one - he never looks like he's confident on the ball before just getting rid of it straight away. I think you and I said after the first two games that DeLaet looked the weakest of our defenders. Apologies if you didn't, I know I did. And have I got this wrong, or are teams consistently appearing to exploit our right (their left)? Though, I do agree, there is little defensive cover in front of RDL. Konch hasn't been great either, but I usually feel a bit safer, defensively, down our left side.

He's been poor this season and seems to drift around without any urgency about him. He's slow to close down, slow to recognise danger and his distribution is shocking. He's always had spells with us where he seems to have lapses or lose concentration. However, I thought he had a much better game on Saturday. I'm amazed having brought in Simpson, Pearson's not played him. Whether he doesn't like him now he's seen him train, I don't know but it seems Moore's a more likely candidate to challenge De Laet at RB. Konchesky's been a solid 7 at LB for most of the season and his experience shows. The first thing he did when Knockaert replaced Jeff on Saturday was to shout at him to use his head and do his job. marbelladave Posted 24 November 2014 Share Posted 24 November 2014 I have noticed that we have been far more secure on our right since Wasilewski has been brought in at centre back. He cleans up behind De Laet in a way that Morgan never did, a much more secure pairing. Now all we need to do is to work out which of our midfield players is going to drop back and cover for Wasilewski, right now no-one is doing that. It is part of the old problem of not having anyone to specifically control the space in front of our centre backs and cover between them when required. I had assumed that Cambiasso would do that, use his experience to hold and control play from there. Strangely he is trying to play box to box, he has neither the pace nor the legs to do that at this level.
