Stevosevic Posted 21 December 2014 Share Posted 21 December 2014 Any idea on our lowest points tally in the top league? We must be well on course for it...
The Doctor Posted 21 December 2014 Share Posted 21 December 2014 22 in 1977/78 when it was 2 points for a win (W5-D12-L25, so 27 in modern day points), and since the change to 3 points for a win, 29 points in 94/

Corky Posted 21 December 2014 Share Posted 21 December 2014 We must have had less than 29 in 2001-02 surely? Four more matches in 1994/95. 29 out of 126, 28 from 114. Sorry, misread things. 28 was our lowest, but points to games 1995 was worse.
kristianity77 Posted 21 December 2014 Share Posted 21 December 2014 We must have had less than 29 in 2001-02 surely? 28 points in that season. And to add insult to injury we had 14 points back then at this stage...

The Doctor Posted 21 December 2014 Share Posted 21 December 2014 We're on course to beat Derby's record, nevermind ours. Are we, are we really? Even if you take the last 6 games (as the form tables tend to be based on), we'll finish 2 points better off than they did. We need a grand total of 2 points to make sure the record remains theirs. This is nothing short of utterly stupid doom-mongering. We must have had less than 29 in 2001-02 surely? One less point, but 4 less matches, so a better ppg than the 94/95 team

Dukes not bald Posted 21 December 2014 Share Posted 21 December 2014 ahhhh that 77/78 team, George Armstrong steaming down the wing(better than schlupp) David Webb, Roger Davies, Billy Hughes. no one could have got it more wrong than Frank McClintock
hesapeepingtom Posted 21 December 2014 Share Posted 21 December 2014 this lot are not worse players than tater peelers 2nd full season but worse performances and worse manager than tater peeler results wise.
Col city fan Posted 21 December 2014 Share Posted 21 December 2014 A few wins and there will be people suggesting Europe again That's the funny part..although actually, quite true. Dan will be once more claiming that we are 'clearly better' than the teams around us. Or words to that effect. Honest...it would happen..

Guy Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 Although we are more competitive this season in the top flight really, even so there are striking similarities with this season now compared to the 29 pointer 1994-95 affair exactly two decades on under deserter Little and then Mark McGhee (who would also turn out to be a fellow deserter!). This is as far as the fact that the squad isn't really good enough to stay up is concerned on elapsed evidence, sadly regardless of the "what went before" A/B comparison in that we pissed the Championship last season to get up yet only went up as one of the worst PO final winning teams ever 20 years ago! Even so under Little's early tenure we turned in a few "a ok" early season performances including beating a quality Spurs team 3-1 that September in 1994 with goals by the likes of Joachim and David Lowe - so is a Man United 5-3 A/B comparison twenty years later in the same month as that memorable Spurs win (and nothing to follow on anywhere near as good ever since by comparison) an almost spookily symmetrical comparison anybody?! Stevosevic Posted 22 December 2014 Author Share Posted 22 December 2014 Steve I have noticed recently you have been embarrassingly negative? What are you doing? How can being that negative possibly help anything? Hard not to feel that way to be honest. We made a better account of ourselves under Micky Adams and i find that unacceptable given the circumstances in which each team was promoted. We made a better account of ourselves under Micky Adams and i find that unacceptable given the circumstances in which each team was promoted. This. I think that's what has made this season even more disappointing than it already is. Had higher hopes of doing well this time than after any previous promotion I can remember, going back to early 80s. We had one of the best second tier team for years, wealthy owners, sell out crowds. What could go wrong....
Fox92 Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 03/04 wasn't as bad as this. I don't recall us ever hitting 20th position either that season.

Stevosevic Posted 22 December 2014 Author Share Posted 22 December 2014 Ah, ok... But I still think we weren't as bad as what we are now. Course we're not, we've got ten points and we are nearly half way through. That season we scored goals and had entertaining games, all with a squad of pensioners and has beens. ithuriel Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 Since my time supporting Leicester, this is the worst team I have seen in the top division. Littles team was hamstrung by hardly any cash, missing Walsh, Speedie and then Joachim for most of the season and of course Little quit and left us with no manager for a short period of time until McGhee came. Adams team was built uber cheaply too and was brilliant until the 80th minute most games, after which we would fall apart, considering the problems at the time I was surprised we did so well under Adams. Cropwellfox Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 And even then I can name 6 or 7 of those players who were better than our options now. Team on Boxing Day 2003 v Newcastle was walker, Curtis, thatcher, Howey, Stewart, scimeca, izzet, McKinley, Dickov, scowcroft, Ferdinand. Think I would take Walker, Thatcher, Scimeca, Izzet, Dickov and Ferdinand out of that team but Jesus what a shite back 4 that was!
