Nick Powell

Unfortunately he's probably set for life anyway.

There's an autobiography of an ex-manager and he states he couldn't get an inexeprienced 18-year old on loan to his club because he was on £18,000 per week. Almost as a retainer to make sure no-one else came in for him. It's utterly daft, especially if they haven't "made it" yet, but you can bet your arse after his £4m move from Crewe Powell is ridiculously remunerated because he was considered such a talent.

And down the pan he goes. I bet it doesn't take much if you're earning the thick end of £1m a year to lose attitude, especially if you've not been given a chance at the club who signed you. And if football is a living and not a love (which for some it really is) then where's the motivation when you're earning that at such a young age?

If you can't get yourself up at a Premier League club, with a new manager at your parent club to impress, then you've not really got a chance. Many of the Man Utd youngsters we've taken over the last few years, Drinkwater, James, De Laet, Keane have been impressive, astute and have improved themselves from the moment they arrived. They get that attitude and desire from a young age, it doesn't just spring into the psyche.

We saw ourselves what a bit of money and a bit of praise does with George Taft, and how quickly he went down the pan. After Wigan, and now his time here. Powell's career looks like it's only going one way. I would say it could be a disappointing end for him, but I suspect his bank balance will soften the blow.

A poor man's Levi Porter. Was probably nothing special to begin with, is never going to be a decent footballer unless he fixes his attitude very soon. Has probably pissed most of the money he has earned away already, will in all likelihood end up as a journeyman scraping a poor living in the conference well into his late 30s.

I massively doubt he'll ever be "poor"

He wouldn't be the first footballer to piss away all his early career earnings on trivial shit. If he continues failing as a footballer he'll soon drop down a league or two where the wages aren't really that great, certainly not enough to continue the lifestyle to which he has become accustomed. Could easily find himself bankrupt. It has happened to a lot of footballers.
