fleckneymike Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 Yesterday, in 65 minutes of play Vardy attempted EIGHT passes.

Dan LCFC Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 Mis-controlling the ball doesn't count as an attempted pass.
Spicer Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 I don't want him or Nugent in the team atm. Next season they can get us promoted again as I think the rest of our strikers will leave (rightly so) if we go down.
daddylonglegs Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 In the championship: We're a better team with Nugent in it. Vardy gives the defenders absolute hell. In the premier league: Nugent may link play OK, but he has missed SO many chances, and has scored once from open play. He looks like he needs 2 seconds more than everyone else, and rarely looks like he knows where he is or needs to be. Vardy is laughed at by all defenders apart from Rafael and Tyler Blackett. Honestly, has he fooled a single defender yet with that closing down thing where he speeds up right as they're about to kick it? I am absolutely praying Kramaric come good because, similar to the other 'good' championship players (Drinkwater especially) they look so out of their depth in this league. sdb Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 Jesus wept. Why do we constantly pick on individuals? Hardly anyone was good enough yesterday. They tried but were beaten by a better side.
funkyrobot Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 I'm gutted for Vardy that he's not been able to take the step up. He was outstanding last season and I think most of us expected him to be better this season than he's showed. He was injured at the start of the season and didn't kick on from the Man Utd game. Just shows how significant the step up is to the prem from the championship.

sdb Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 if individuals are consistently under performing (Nugent) then why should we ignore that? We have a squad of players who aren't quite good enough. Why single out a few and make them the scapegoats? So counter productive. It's like singling individual fans out and calling them clowns when there's about 10,000 of them at the KP every week.

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 Obviously the problem is in midfield/attack. Finally started defending properly but can't score. Vardy has certainly been pretty poor this season but he's certainly not the only one.
StanSP Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 What's the point in these threads? It's his inability to finish which is the problem. Also, he attempted 8 passes which means he's not getting the ball enough to start with or losing the ball whilst trying to get by defenders with his pace. And based on yesterday's performance, none of our strikers had much of the ball all match.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 His work rate and his goal against United are starting to loose their gloss now, he needs to get on the score sheet ASAP or he's going to fall out of favour again.

This isn't about individuals or the squad not being being good enough. What we saw yesterday was a team who didn't really want to be out there and scrap for every ball. He only touched the ball 17 times. In less time on the pitch Ulloa attempted 8 passes and Kamaric 6. Over the season he only attempts, on average, 12 passes per game. Now if he isn't passing or scoring what on earth is he doing?
l444ry Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 Obviously the problem is in midfield/attack. Finally started defending properly but can't score. Vardy has certainly been pretty poor this season but he's certainly not the only one. This seems to be correct given what happened earlier in the season. But at this level defenders need to be able to keep the ball better and also start attacks. Really difficult balance for Pearson to make considering the defenders at his disposal. yorkie1999 Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 Its not Vardy that's the issue, its having to play king. What's he trying to do, practice at becoming a referee or something. All he does is follow the ball up and down his own half. Good in league one, okay in the champ, fvcking useless in the prem.

Dickov22 Posted 18 January 2015 Share Posted 18 January 2015 when you say better side. you mean give the ball to bojan. right? Stoke was quite a bit better than us, Bojan or no Bojan. They had more posession and just looked stronger and more powerful than us all over the pitch.

They had more posession and just looked stronger and more powerful than us all over the pitch. they had more possession at their place as well. liverpool had more possession than arsenal this season. the result is what matters and bar maybe unzonzi in the middle of the park. they where about as good as villa. difference is. bojan wanted it. benteke didn't

Pretty much yes - apart from 3/4 players - reserve judgment on the new boy Andrej' I think he will do well for the remainder of the games cos come May he will be off
