DANGEROUS TIGER

Pearson's Dilemma.

Recommended Posts

No, I am not going to have a go at N.P.

Given the fact that we are where we are in the league, it must be an awkward time to bring in any top signings. In fact,  most likely impossible ,with only a few days of this window left. What do you think his planning should be now?

Obviously fighting to stay up, is the priority, but should he have one eye on players that may be suited to getting us straight back up, if the worst happens.

Will Krameric be prepared to stay?  We don't know if he has a release clause in his contract, or if anyone will want him if he does.

My gut feeling, right or not, is that he will be thinking hard about having a good blend of players for the Championship, with a view his them being better prepared, to cope at top level. Possibly a big summer splash, mixed with good business sense.

Just because the bulk of our players did brilliantly last season, does not necessarily mean they will do it again.

Thoughts.

I think we'd be a great outfit next year if we go down.

Even if we part ways with Cambiasso, Mahrez and Kramaric- that's still a good Championship squad.

I'd bring in a LB from the lower leagues and a defensive midfielder and I think we'd still be Champions.

If we go down (i think well just stay up)then I hope that the players will show Pearson and club the faith that they have been given whilst under performing, and stick with us and work hard to get promoted rather than jump ship.

I think the club will not be pressured by agents/players and let them be forced into selling players, Kramaric aside if it's in his contract.

He won't be planning for relegation. Nige isn't the type of man to do that, in fact, would any manager do that? As for Kramaric, I'd expect him to leave. He's a full International, he ain't going to be wanting to play in the second tier. The Championship is a difficult league, there is nothing to suggest we'd win the league again. Norwich, Fulham and Cardiff are nowhere near the top of the division this season.

That said I still have belief we'll stay up.

9 days including today and transfer deadline day. For me, things are going to happen on Monday and Tuesday 1st and 2nd Feb. This is why the double on Man U could be transitional to our chance of signing quality. We could be sat in 17th on transfer deadline day.

Next season, IF, we are back in the Championship, will be a fresh challenge for the team, with no guarantees of promotion. We could even struggle, as other relegated Premiership sides have done.

We'll have to wait and see what happens, but just pray we wont have to worry about reclaiming our Premiership status.

Fingers crossed, but I am not confident. Very negative of me I know, but I am who I am!   lol

What a depressing thread. Maybe try again in 6 games.

If what you're getting is - should NP a buy few championship standard players in the next 9 days just in case we drop - then most definitely not. The focus must be 100% on fighting to stay as I'm sure it is.

I do agree its not a given that we would come straight back up just because we have the same players as last season. But then cross that bridge if and when we come to it in the summer.

We'll lose... Schmeichel, Kramaric, Schlupp, Moore, Mahrez, and Ulloa.....

Passing your opinion off as fact again. I'm not at all convinced that Schlupp, Schmeichel and Ulloa would leave given they're on long term contracts.

Who would take Schmeichel anyway? He's not impressed much.

ulloa will be in the same bracket as jordan rhodes at Blackburn.

we paid so much for him it would take him kicking up a real fuss or a ridiculous offer for us to part with him.

kasper like you say, hardly been impressive now has he.

Whilst I know this is off topic and not the point of discussion, these 3 teams highlight to me the importance of standing by the manager and keeping stability within the club even if we do get relegated.

Cambiasso, I think, will return to warmer climes.

Ulloa will be bought up by someone like West Brom if they stay up.

Schlupp will go IMO.

Mahrez will go IMO.

Kram will not want to play in the Championship.

For me, relegation would be dreadful. We'd probably be ok but we'd see departures from most of our better players.

We stormed the championship without any of them being here or being regulars (bar Mahrez towards the end of the season). So it's not all doom and gloom. Especially as it would take the best part of £25m to take them off our hands.

On the plus side Konch would be out of contract!

Would he have been a fool this time last year to have started making some prepaeations for the summer assuming (back then) we were going up?

No ... that's planning for success ..... You don't plan for failure ..... He should be 100% focussed on success (and I have every faith that he is).

Few years ago West Brom were bouncing in and out of the champ/premiership pretty much each season. If we look at them now they are fairly established prem team, or have been... This season we will see.

Anyway, with a view to next season... I don't think you can do that within this window, mainly because of the older players that will most likely depart in summer break. Cambiasso, Schwarzer, Upson, Taylor-Pie, Wazilewski, Konch (and his quality passing) and Hammond are all aging players that might need replacing depending on contacts/fitness, you can't do that now, it's too many players and, it's not next seasons transfer window to do so... In my mind we might need to replace 4 of them at least.

With regards to players that are our core stars, who knows... If we recieve offers in the 20/10mil respectivly for Ulloa and Mahrez then most likely they will leave, but forcing the issue... I can't see our players necessarily trying to do so. They are young, hungry, talented and well looked after here, have formed bonds that are noticable between the other players and maybe will have something to prove if we do go down. Knockart seems happy to fight for his place and Albrighton... well, god knows, seems to have the talent, just doesn't seem to be played. Drinky and James will most likely stay and Vardy and Chicken Nugget will hang around as well I'd think, though if West Brom do place a bid for Vardy at 5mil then I'd take it and improve the offer on the the lad we're after in Germany.

As for Krameric... We will only see at the time. I'd hope he will have settled in and will want to fight for a place, he would have a better time in the Championship for a season and would know the deal if/when we went up the following season.

Anyway, I just can't see us trying to plan for next season at the minute when really it all depends on so much at the end of the season.

Of course you plan for both but don't invest as much time in the relegation scenario. I'd expect the club to have two sets of targets, one if we go down and one if we stay up.

Whoever we do sell should be on our terms. Ulloa, Mahrez will attract bids but we should dictate the price.

Anyone who thinks we'd piss the SBC 2015/16 if we got relegated is a fool.

It would be a hard slog and I wouldn't expect us to fly straight back up. Not even making the play-offs would be more than conceivable personally, and I love Pearson to death. Even with the millions after PL clubs have picked at our carcass and the parachute I think we would find the going tough.

Staying up is an absolute desperation. After last year we saw the Championship was easy, but it'd be anything but, the quality of teams and players will be significantly higher in 2015/16 than it was in 2013/14.

People say that every year though and it rarely of late has turned out that way. Nobody would have predicted that top 6 at the start of the season.
