Worst Away Days

Recommended Posts

Weve got a best away days thread, so I thought I might open a worst away days thread and see what comes up.

In recent times, a few stick out:

Burnley on new years day, possibly the 04/05 season. Atrocious pitch conditions and torrential rain forced an abandonned game after what could have only been 15 mins. The rearranged game was an atrocious 0-0 with little more than 300 travelling, and coming the week of an FA Cup quarter final it was obvious that no one gave a toss on the pitch.

Sheffield United away, in the Holloway relegation season. After being snowed on and thus being soaked to death on row B, Leicester proceeded to go 3-0 down and have Patrick Kisnorbo given his marching orders all inside 20 mins. A complete wasted trip and performance only slightly lessened by Leicester fans singing shoes off.

Ipswich away in a 2-0 loss under Kelly. Cant remember the year but it was the coldest I think ive ever been at a game of football, and the excitement on the pitch, which was non existent from a Leicester point of view, didnt hold any interest. Day was made all the worse for some drunk idiot next to us falling asleep twice during the game and slobbering on himself. Summed the day up.

Ipswich away in a 6-1 loss under Adams. Shambles that needs no more discussion, and a huge drive back to Leicester.

Newcastle away this season couldn't have gone much worse. Delayed kick off, absolutely shit game and atmosphere, broke down on the way home and got back at 5am.

Hull away 2007/08 was how I'd imagine hell to be.

Every trip to Wales ever. Swansea's about the worst of the lot. Absolute trek away for the same awful non-show from us every time.

Obviously losing 5-1 at Forest.

To the OP - that trip to Sheffield was class! Yeah the result was poor but the atmosphere that day was sensational for a side in our position. Decent walk back to the train station too..: 'sit down, if you love Leicester'

You also forgot that mannoe was in your fantasy team who'd just conceded 8 goals

The cancelled Burnley game on news years day.

Any game I was made to sit down at when our away fans were dog shit from about 03-06. Our ends used to be terrible! Remember Crewe away In 05 when it was the ONLY person standing up, to then have a steward come and tap me on the shoulder and tell me to sit! lol crazy to imagine that now.

Having to sit down has literally ruined whole days for me, even if we've won!

Hasn't happened for about 8 years though!

1-6 at Portsmouth was pretty bad. But the overall day was a really good one for me.

0-2 - Southampton away, FA Cup 3rd round. Just a crap day all round. Plus I hate losing to Southampton.

Both the 1-3 defeats to Reading during the last few years. Terrible performances, even worse atmosphere in our end.

0-2 at Charlton. Megsons first game in charge. Looked like it'd be a LONG season. I guess it was.

Swansea 0-2 this season was pretty sh*t too. Awful atmosphere and performance. Though at least a pretty good night after that.

There's probably a lot more I'm forgetting too.

Generally always a good day out following City regardless of result but some bad games on the pitch from memory:

Pompey 6-1 on the Friday night.

Middlesbrough 6-0.

Wolves 4-3.

Sheff Wed 7-1.

Newcastle 7-1.

Stoke relegation game.

Chelsea 97 in cup.

Burnley called off new years.

Reading called off new years.

That one wins hands down for me.

Just a horrible day. I remember that there was an EDL march in Nottingham on the same day as well and the general atmosphere around the city was just horrid that day - really felt like you had to be on guard. Then the match itself, obviously we never turned up.

travelling to Torquay for a 3rd round  cup tie in the early 70s only for the game to be called off due to the weather. When I got back eventually I  got dumped by the girlfriend  - ungrateful bitch- how did things work out with that twat Steve and his Escort Mexico anyway?

Of course I let it go a long time back

:P

0-0 Plymouth away under Holloway. Or Burnley away I think it was their first season after relegation from the PL. by the time they got their third we were already back on the m6 lol lol

We've had some utter dross play for us the last 10 years or so. Fans should remember this when moaning about results/performances this season

Unfortunately for us Wayne Brown definitely turned up but his mind was clearly elsewhere...

Another one that sticks out for me is the 3-0 loss at Plymouth. Can't even remember who was manager but Holloway was theirs.

Took my ex for the first time. For hours after she thought we had scored (Levi Porter had a goal disallowed I believe). Needless to say she was in the bin days later.

Plymouth away that got abandoned at half time due to rain, then we lost the actual match 0-1 and we put no effort in at all, the only good thing was that Levien got sacked the next day.

Hull away a few years ago, I think we lost 3-0. I was at uni in Sheffield and had gone out on the Friday and got to sleep about 5, then my dad n brother turn up at like 11 and are like "we're going to hull on the motorway".

I was so ****ed and we had to get on some poverty park n ride then the game was diabolical I don't think we had a shot on target.

Thank goodness we got relegated and I got to go to some great aways in league one while at uni.
