Does Pearson Deserve Another Crack ?

Recommended Posts

If Nigel put his hands up and admitted  " Ok I have been wrong with some of my team selections and tactics.....Give me time to get us back to the prem ( if we get relegated) and I'll learn from my mistakes... I love this club and the fans AND want to establish LCFC as a premiership team"

Call me optimistic, I know this would never happen, but if it did, he would get my backing.

@@@@ me it could happen..... what do you all think???

If all of the above happened, I would give him next season.

If he gets us promoted, I would give him two months, in the premier league, and if it looks to be heading the same way, get rid.

If he starts bad next season get rid asap.

Again that's if he's humble enough to do what you say in your post.

Otherwise I want someone new in, no point in letting pearson have a go, only to **** it up again, can't say for certain he will, but nothing says to me this season he has learnt or will.

It's not a case of does he deserve, it's will he be successful this time around?

This, the club simply has to decide who is the best man for the job in leading us back to the PL and whether we want to go in a totally different direction.

At the moment I would say yes, I've not heard another name yet I'd rather lead us in the Championship than him.

It is gross incompetence to let him carry on a minute longer, every day he is in charge we are in a worse position. l say day as we only can judge on the amount of points we don't get each week, but by losing every week, it just proves we are going the wrong way . The Thais are fiddling while Rome burns.

I also agree with Webbo. The question must always be 'what is our best option?'

Whether or not you think he deserves to have another go isn't what's important. Then again, nor is feeling let down a good reason to sack him either - there's a lot of people who appear to motivated by revenge in demanding to have him sacked.

You wouldn't go with Big Sam?

I really, really don't know. There's no point dwelling on the past and it's more a case of what will happen, rather than who deserves what. Some fans would rather him sacked as punishment, rather than because he can't get us back up.

Ttfn's post after the Hull game nailed it for me. It all depends for me on how much he looks like learning between now and the end of the season, and if the bridges look like being rebuilt.

What about Jose Mourinho?

Allardyce won't come here. He can do better. He'll end up at Sunderland I reckon if they stay up.

Basically he's ****ed up this season, big time, but I thank and respect him (Although the way he has treated this season, selecting certain players no matter how bad or how many mistakes they make, not playing other/giving others chances, tactics, I have lost quite abit of respect for him) for what he has done overall here.

Rightly or wrongly that has bought him time this season.

I was of the opinion that he was the best man for us next season, I now question that as I think his head's come off and he's lost it, however it's gone too far to sack him now, it's be pointless, we either did it months ago when we had a chance of staying up or we let him see the season out, we've gone for the latter option obviously, so I reckon give him next season, but if he doesn't hit the ground running next year he's gone - He has got 10 - 15 games next season - TBH that's probably took long a period if we're not up with the pace after that length of time I think we'll have missed the boat for an instant return (Which I don't think we'll get anyway imo).

Whilst this season has been a disaster, bar the first 8 games or so, I can't help but think Pearson would get us back up - he's proved himself at Championship level. It would be our luck to sack him, the squad is dismantled by a new manager and we're back to square one, whilst Pearson goes off to manage Sheff Wednesday, gets them promoted and learns from his experience this year. If we are relegated, which is almost a certainty now, I'd still stick with NP.

He asked for a name, I know it's unlikely we would get him BUT he will be out of a job, you don't know that he will be offered another Premier role and working for a club of our size, with money to spend and owners who don't interfere will appeal to a lot of managers. We don't have to go down the path of out of work failures.

Yes. Pearson is GOD.

Calm down mate, I wouldn't say GOD, you're pushing it a bit far. although...

I assume this is if we get relegated. So, yes I think he does. He has got a couple of big things wrong this season, one of them was underestimating the league/overestimating the squad because of how well we were last season. There are certain managers that got relegated before being a success again. Look at Curblishley.

Pearson would never in a million years admit he'd made mistakes. He's far too arrogant and stubborn. One thing I will always respect Micky Adams for is that he was man enough to admit he made mistakes.

That wasn't totally true was it?

No he doesn't deserve another crack, he's made a balls up of this season and for me I don't see where he has improved as a manager.

Last season many on here were praising him for having learnt how to deal with the press, well for me he's regressed further back than where he was 2 seasons ago.

Tactically he has learnt nothing, his use of substitutions is still poor and the team now have less confidence and are playing poorer football than last season.

I can't think of one reason why he should stay, I think he's destroyed the squad ethic we had last season and I think we'll struggle next season.

We may yet of course stay up which would mean even more reason to sack him as his Championship record would then mean nothing.

He did I remember an interview he did stating it

Didn't he have a huge row with a fan who questioned his tactics and substitutions at an event? I'm sure I read about it in the Fox Fanzine.
