ajthefox Posted 23 November 2016 Share Posted 23 November 2016 https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/nov/23/censor-non-conventional-sex-acts-online-internet-pornography Say what you like about getting turned on by people pissing on each other, but so long as everyone involved in making the film is consenting and not breaking the law there is no harm in it. People are free to watch it if they want to. What pornographic material can and can't be filmed being limited to what is deemed 'conventional' by a bunch of mps is a significant infringement of peoples freedoms. What Ian Watkins did is already illegal. Child Porn is illegal, assaulting / killing people is illegal, having sex with animals is (I think?) illegal. Not sure why you'd need extra laws to crack down on those things? If you read the link it's actually just talking about things like spanking or a bit of consenting s&m, why are we censoring that but you can watch mass murder or whatever else in a cinema? Kitchandro Posted 23 November 2016 Share Posted 23 November 2016 Agreed. There will be a lot of tongue in cheek comments on this thread I expect but it's a serious issue. Governments seem very intent on censoring pornography which, whilst inappropriate for children is pretty harmless but fairly lax about the real danger to youngsters which is social media. Why not have blocks and age restrictions on facebook instead? Why not have tight restrictions on horror films, which in my opinion could be far more scarring to a child? Or are we just still being run by a religious state? (P.S. I'm not into pissing videos)
Barky Posted 23 November 2016 Share Posted 23 November 2016 Absolutely pathetic. Is this the standard we can expect now that we can 'make our own laws'? Make britain great again by hammering down on personal freedom and letting mps treat other people like children.
RobHawk Posted 23 November 2016 Share Posted 23 November 2016 To be fair, if its MP's that are deciding what is and isn't 'conventional' there'll still be some pretty sick stuff which will be absolutely fine to watch!

I think it might have something to do with the U.S recently giving up control of the internet. l it might be illegal, but that doesnt stop people having access to it because we dont/ didnt control the the internet... Maybe some of this is now about giving us the power to decide what comes into this country through the internet Now that Countries can have more of a say... SMX11 Posted 23 November 2016 Share Posted 23 November 2016 Pathetic puritanical rubbish as per usual with successive governments. This sort of thing is the only reason why I would have considered staying in the EU.

I could articulate myself a little more in the way that some of the posters above have done about exactly why it isn't a good idea, but it looked like that had been done already. I would think being aggravated at a government attempting to legislate morality is enough reason to be annoyed about this one. And add to that the hypocrisy of many of our dear representatives who do like to partake in that sort of thing (pigs heads and all that)... Really, the entire British attitude towards matters of the bedroom has always been laughably repressed (except in a nudge nudge wink wink kind of way) and it's a shame that this is being reflected in this new attempted legislation.
