Lambert09 Posted 14 December 2016 Share Posted 14 December 2016 How can people knock him? He's clearly been asked to play in a way to accommodate Vardy, he's obviously not going to be able to show his best when hes not playing in the correct position to do so. He needs to be the leading man in the correct system or we waste him. Put it this way if we played in a similar system to Palace he would flourish and would quite possibly be hitting the back of the net more than Benteke. Fair enough he hasn't had the service but last night he didn't seem to be able to get the ball under and make a good pass. I though ulloa was more effective in the limited time he got on the pitch Probably because by that point we were actually trying to score with more than a couple people in attacking positions and Bournemouth were backs to the wall. I think Slim should have stayed on and Vardy go off the pitch, makes little sense when we're behind to a team that will grind out the win, to bring Okazaki on and start doing crosses and things Slim loves. Agree, this board has become an attack on players. Even when we were winning each game it was 'Simpson this, Amartey that' 70% of people are never happy on here. Even if we signed Messi and Ronaldo they'd be still like #dogshite

Last two games he had two good chances a missed them both? Free header against Manchester City which he didn't even get on target.

No way he is as good as benteke, he was a beast against us, good at hold up play, wins all the headers against our defence, has pace and power....not saying benteke is a world beater but I rather have him than slimani
Babylon Posted 14 December 2016 Share Posted 14 December 2016 These x player is rubbish threads are tiresome, the reality is we're asking new players to come in to what is currently a poor team, with poor management, tactics etc and step up to the plate. None of them are really being given a platform to make an impression. We have the player of the year, african player of the year, Ballon door 7th place.... but how the team is playing and how we're set up is currently making him look woeful. We're hanging so many players out to dry by not offering the correct support all over the pitch it's laughable. Whether it's overloading the midfield, not supporting wingers, leaving strikers isolated, playing people out of position, launching the ball 50 ft in the air and expecting something to come of it. We need a total overhaul of how we're set up to play. We can bring in 11 fantastic new players, but if we continue to set them up like this, with these tactics... then it won't make a jot of difference. Cant you manage to make some constructive criticism? You manage it in other topics on occasion.... Mad Dog? Spiteful Kitty more like.

CosbehFox Posted 14 December 2016 Share Posted 14 December 2016 Like all strikers, you have to give service. You can criticise him for the missed header against Man City but I find it harsh to criticise a striker what lives off absolutely no quality service. At the moment as well, his attitude is at odds with a lot in the squad. He likes a moan, wants to win and plays off adrenline. He's a breath of fresh air at times to those in the squad what just stand off and never looked annoyed when we've conceded.

blueharmie Posted 14 December 2016 Share Posted 14 December 2016 Hold on. Slim has scores quite a few this season. One bad game yesterday. He holds the ball up well and lethal at heading usually.

Like I said... Palace have created a game plan around Benteke, we havent done the same for Slimani or even adapted to having him in the team. So you cant compare the two just yet. the fox Posted 15 December 2016 Share Posted 15 December 2016 WOW!!. People really got their pitchforks out hunting for someone to blame. Claudio said he took him out because he was exhausted, give the guy a break, this is just going out of hand. People need to realize that he is a box striker, and because he was playing along side a player that can only play on the defender's line, he got demoted to play the second striker position. And he is not that type of player. He is the kind of player that likes to get service in the box. Just look at his missed header against man city. Get him 3 or 4 plays like that and you will see his true color
GingerrrFox Posted 15 December 2016 Share Posted 15 December 2016 If he was the focal point in a 4-3-3 he would be deadly. He needs to be up top in between the centre backs, posing a threat in behind and taking the ball to feet like a target man. That way we would get the best out of him. WigstonWanderer Posted 15 December 2016 Share Posted 15 December 2016 For at least 45 mins we need to try Albrighton on the right slinging in crosses, with Slim in the box, Mahrez behind and either Musa or Gray on the left. Musa hasn't looked all that good so far, but did put in a good cross on Tuesday showing he can do it. This would at least give us something different to try. RoyFox Posted 15 December 2016 Share Posted 15 December 2016 Slimani get's two assists against Man City in 5 minutes, then suddenly he's sh*te! Scores vital goals against Porto, Burnley and puts away a penalty in the the last few minutes against Boro. Slimani plays well when we have a high tempo and the team pressures defenders as a unit. Play at a slow and predictable tempo (most away games) and he can't roll off defenders shoulders, force errors or find the space in the box. I agree with this completely I have this horrid feeling that you get the likes of Musa and Slim playing in a free-flowing, attacking, confident side and you'd see very different players. These players are far from 'shite'. They are suffering from playing in such a poor, overall side. Personally, I'm still convinced that the middle of the park is the main issue. If at all possible, it's imperative we get another quality CM in January.
