If he really has a £15m release clause, and we're willing to match it, Karanka can say whatever he wants. Doesn't make it true.

thats the thing though if he has got a release clause we dont know what stipulations are in it

I was hoping this had been confirmed as garbage......now worried!!

hopefully won't happen

Speaking to Sky Sports after Boro’s stalemate against Watford, Karanka said: "He is staying, he is enjoying it a lot and is a really important player for us, having only arrived one year ago."

id say take the managers word on this one

Just an idea, but are we getting this story out there to influence the Cafu deal?

From what I've heard he is the one that Claudio really wants.

That's how we usually do business

clubs will be trying to get the max out of us - it's Jan and we look pretty desperate with our league position

Not really buying into this one. Boro don't need to sell in this window and he starts for them most weeks.

Manager says "No Chance" so I doubt there is a release clause either.

Can see us looking at Bojan though, but not quite sure how we would line up if we do go for a player like him and whether he would start each week, which is what he is after

Warming a bit to this now. If it is 10m then I say it's worth a go. Boro fans seem angry about him possibly being sold, he played a big part in 3 out of their 4 wins.

If it's £2.5m less than Schlupp it's a very good deal.

Just been looking at his stats which are far superior to our other CAM options and even on par with our wingers. 21 key passes, 24 chances created, 36 tackles and interceptions, 3 assists and 2 goals. Pass completion nothing worse than what we have. Can win headers (also Mahrez has won 43 aerial duels lol).

Sign him up

Head coach Aitor Karanka expects forward Gaston Ramirez to remain at Middlesbrough beyond the January transfer window.

Ramirez, 26, has scored nine goals in 35 games since joining from Southampton, initially on loan before signing permanently last summer.

However, the Uruguay international has been linked with a move to Leicester.

"It's just rumours. I can't understand why he wouldn't (still be at the club)," Karanka told BBC Tees.

"He's been an important player here in the last year, he's really pleased to be here."

Boro, who have already signed Rudy Gestede from Aston Villa, have been strongly linked with re-signing striker Patrick Bamford from Chelsea.

He's gone from 'not going anywhere' to 'expects'
