Millwall away pre-match (FA Cup)

Am perturbed by this comment by Ranieri in the Telegraph on making 10 (predicted) changes for Millwall:

"If we win it will be seen as OK – if we lose the manager made a mistake. I prefer to take my responsibility. I want to protect my first team every time.”

So despite his admission that things have to change, he still sees the ones that have failed recently as the first team?

So the excuses for the probable loss are already in place. Look Millwall are a big club we were always the underdog, they fight hard etc etc etc we press hard they had one shot and score we had no shots but tried very hard and on and on he will go.

This is all getting very negative and samey - why the **** is he still protecting the usual suspects. He should be making wholesale changes for Liverpool and Sevilla, the '1st team' should be playing against milwall. All arse about tit.

Sorry, but you can't eat the cake and keep it.

If the game tomorrow ends in a draw we will have a replay on

the 27th and the Liverpool match will take place on the 25th.

That means we would have to play 4 matches in 10 days.

And you want, that we always play our '1st team' (whoever

that might be). Right?

If you don't care about the results, if you don't care about

injuries... okay.

Otherwise, it's impossible.

My only hope that if he does make whole sale changes for the Milwall game those players who do actually have a good game are given a chance in the Sevilla match.  If I remember rightly Vardy,  Mahrez and Huth longest spell out of the team excluding injuries or suspensions is just one match I could be wrong but taking someone out for just one match is hardly sending a message out to the rest of the squad.  And for those who played well in the replay against Derby to see the team that was put out against Swansea really must give them hope that what they go out and do on the pitch really can change the manager mind.

Comments like that are exactly why he is alienated so much of his first team SQUAD. I want to protect my first team. What hope does that give a player lining up tomorrow that if I do well, I might just get back into this side.

He's making his excuses. No more, please. Lose, you go. Protect the club.

Lets hope last seasons Leicester City finally turns up tomorrow against Milwall and shows us they really haven't forgotten how to play football and find out they actually can win football games !!

Come on City our season starts again tomorrow starting with wins in the Fa Cup then Champions League and finally find our Winning form back in the Premier League!

Sounds to me like he's referring to the team that plays tomorrow as his first team.

He's trying to protect the team playing tomorrow that's all.

I fear, it is much more complicated, than most of us think.

Just two examples:

1. Of course, Ranieri could drop Mahrez to send a message to the

squad. But Mahrez is hand in glove with Slimani. Islam would

probably do a Leo and start sulking, as long as his buddy Mahrez

is not playing. In other words: Slimani without Mahrez is rather

    useless.

2. Morgan. Of course, Ranieri could bench Morgan. But Morgan

is the bloody captain of the team. How is his standing in the team?

Is he well liked and respected by his teammates? He is the player

with the greatest fighting spirit, never giving up. Taking him out

of the starting line-up could have huge, negative repercussions.

Ranieri, looking at our fixtures list, knows, that he will need almost every

player in the squad. He simply can't afford to alienate players like Huth,

Morgan, Vardy and Mahrez. One player on strike is enough. Somehow

he must keep all our divas in the right mood. That is his big problem.

Because a good manager, however crap the team is playing knows that it is what it is, always tries to stay positive because once you begin to be negative about your players that's it, the end, and will back his players to the hilt no matter what in the hope that they will come good in the end. He knows they have the quality, he just needs to find a way to bring it back out. A bad manager will blame everyone else but himself for all the problems. When you learn this, you too will be a man my son...

Given we're playing a league 1 side we should play a weakened side, so I'd play Vardy, Drinkwater, Huth, Morgan, Fuchs, Simpson and then a few others.

Anyone know if this is on any international tv or am I looking for a radio stream tomorrow?

Looking back again on this perhaps I did Claudio a disservice because of his English. I think now he is referring to the team he selects rather than the usual 'first team'. Unfortunately in black and white it is open to misinterpretation. I did put a question mark but think I was wrong.

What I would like to see today in the game is Ranieri sending out a team with a clear game plan to control midfield and attack. I want to see us impose on a team for a change. We have been so abjectly spineless this season, always being dictated to rather than dictating the run of the game. What was so amazing last season was that as the season went on we got better at dictating the game to opponents by sitting back and keeping games tight and then grabbing the first goal and forcing teams to  come on to us even more, giving us more opportunities with our quick breakouts. I think we should really go for it in this game, there really is nothing to lose here. I want to see Benny, Chillwell, Ndidi, Armartey, Kaputska and Gray given a chance to show their stuff. If we score the first goal I think we can really use this game to get some confidence back. If we do win , and win well then Ranieri has to have the balls to reward the best performers with a start in Sevilla. I would play Mahrez and Vardy today as well, they both need a goal to help their confidence.

FOr all us Foxes in then US! Good news the game is being shown live!! ?

We need to rotate heavily because of our fixtures, but since everyone's highly divided in what is the A and B team, not to mention the different tactics to be employed against Millwall and Sevilla, I'm not that passionate either way regarding who to pick. Although, a bit of Gray or Mahrez magic may lift the team, ideally without being in extra time (but before full time...)

That won't help you on here bud, people have already made their minds up to be blinkered and insulting towards Claudio no matter what. :(

I think we'll see a few surprises possibly....

I reckon we'll see Vardy at some juncture in the hope he gets his shooting boots on and a bit of confidence.

I think he'll play Was and Benny and Amartey & Chilwell and in the midfield we'll see Albrighton Mendy Drinks/Ndidi Kaputska with Okazaki and Slim up front.....

If he goes for a more first team orientated side as Wednesday gives 3 days recovery, I'll be not disappointed as I'd like to see the team gel and strengthen against weaker opposition to build some confidence and get a win.

I swear though, the next time I walk into my local and somebody shouts HAA GOING DOWN in my face I'm going to react in a truly terrible manner.
