jamesmilner Posted 23 February 2017 Share Posted 23 February 2017 She was blowing well today !! 12 noon Seville to Stansted flight , 2 abandoned landings , 1st was a touching cloth experience , 2nd they ran out of sick bags (actually true) , they diverted us to Birmingham as too dangerous to land , mid flight to Brum, told we need to land as we're running out of fuel due to being in the air 4 1/2 hours !! Landing at Birmingham was the worst of the 3 , wing nearly touched the tarmac ! Well done pilot , you saved my life !! Anyone else have a good blowing ? Emergency services are at the scene following the incident. The plane ended up leaning on one side on the runway with its wing touching the ground. Flybe said no-one had been injured in the incident which happened at about 17:00 local time (16:00 GMT). Schiphol Airport tweeted: "The landing gear of a Flybe airplane collapsed during touchdown. "All passengers are brought to the terminal by bus at the moment. "No people are injured. Flight operation is up and running again." Flybe said in a statement: "Flybe can confirm that there has been an incident involving one of our aircraft, flight no BE1284... We can confirm there are no injuries and all passengers have been bussed to the airport terminal. "Our primary concern is for the welfare of passengers and crews." It was the second incident of the day involving a Flybe aircraft. Earlier, a Flybe flight from Glasgow to Birmingham was forced to return to Glasgow Airport after a technical fault meant the pilot had to shut down one engine. A spokesman for Flybe said: "Flybe can confirm that BE783 - Glasgow to Birmingham returned to Glasgow Airport following a technical fault that resulted in the captain electing to shut down the number one engine as a safety precaution. "The pilot followed all required procedures and the aircraft landed safely without incident." The plane was met by emergency vehicles when it landed. No-one was injured in the incident. Was a nightmare, 1 abandoned landing having back wheels touched tarmac only to circle for 10 mins in wind before succesfully landing just, seemed no different to the first attempt. BoyJones Posted 23 February 2017 Share Posted 23 February 2017 Bit hairy landing at Gatwick at 1pm, didn't mind the wings wobbling or the lurching around for 25 mins as we were stacked up, it was the 5 minutes getting through the clouds that was unnerving. Weird being enclosed with what through the windows looked like dirty cotton wool and the pilot flying blind for what seemed an eternity, especially as we kept speeding up and then slowing down. Pilot came on intercom twice to say it was nothing special and to his credit did a perfectly smooth landing. Quite a few worried faces, but I don't think anyone through up. Heard from a few others that prior to us landing 2 planes aborted landing. It was very much all or nothing, wing was close to scraping the Tarmac like you say.
