Shots Fired Outside House of Commons

Recommended Posts

A police officer has been stabbed in the Houses of Parliament in central London, Commons Leader David Lidington has said.

He told MPs the "alleged assailant was shot by armed police" following a "serious" incident.

Staff inside Parliament were told to stay inside their offices.

The BBC's Laura Kuenssberg said police told her someone had been shot and MPs said they heard "three or four gunshots".

Tom Peck, political editor for the Independent, tweeted: "There was a loud bang. Screams. Commotion. Then the sound of gunshots. Armed police everywhere."

Scotland Yard said it was called to a firearms incident on Westminster Bridge amid reports of several people injured.

Transport for London said Westminster underground station has been shut at the police's request.

Different day, same story!
The people that are affected are the innocent public! A policeman doing his job, stabbed. People going about their day, run over!
It's getting too scary to do anything now - people trying to earn a living, getting killed.
We need to up our punishments on all who decide to put others in harms way - an eye for an eye.

I don't think terrorists are going to be very scared of upping punishments...

Looks like they mounted the pavement on Westminster bridge, mowing people down before crashing into the fence just opposite Portcullis House. Appears that people are injured inside the Parliamentary Estate too. Being treated as a terrorist incident until more information is clear.

Awful. Be grand if people could stick to the facts with this, but I shan't hold my breath...

I've not seen anyone here doing or saying anything to the contrary. So far, everyone's in agreement that it's horrific and we're simply waiting on further news to come through aren't we?

Shot man 'ignored police warning'

Posted at15:40

Daily Mail journalist Quentin Letts whose office overlooks the scene told the BBC of the moment police shot the man.

"This man had something in his hand, it looked like a stick of some sort and he was challenged by a couple of policemen in yellow jackets and one of the yellow-jacketed policemen fell down.

"We could see the man in black moving his arm in a way that suggested he was either stabbing or striking the yellow-jacketed policeman, and one of the policemen then ran to get help, which was very quick to come and as this attacker was running towards the entrance used by MPs to get into the House of Commons.

"As he was running he ran, about I'd say 15 yard perhaps, two plain clothes guys with guns shouted at him what sounded like a warning, he ignored it and they shot two or three times and he fell.

Yeah that works for people willing to die anyway doesn't it.

You can't stop a crazy person with access to a car doing this, simple as.
