Motorbikes are brilliant

Recommended Posts

I'm collecting it from work but I commute so its 60 odd miles will have a few goes round there and if I bottle it can leave it there and take it out a few lunchtimes. Loads of people t my work ride and have offered to 'escort' me home, but pride means I want to do it myself - plus its a good acid test

Ride as often and for as long as you can - building your road confidence is the best prep for a test.

You may want to consider an off-road course too if you have the cash flying about as once you've learned how to powerslide a BMW650 on mud you'll never worry about the odd piece of over-banding or manhole cover in the rain.

Yep I'm gonna be scooting around all weekend now our games off. Will hopefully try a trip to work in a few weeks though not using motorays should be interesting.

Off road course maybe in the future, though theres no cash flying about (I'm leasing the bike!).

I did my test on a CG, and I would hav one of them but they're not on the lease list - I work for Honda so don't pay too much and maintenance insurance etc is included -by the time I'd bought a 2nd hand bike I'd have spent more

In which case can I ask for a special price on an XL1000V with a set of aftermarket pipes? :D

You can ask and I will be happy to give...(I get a small amount!).

Bike now at home, unfortunately with some scratches down one side - I did some laps of the car park and managed to slip in the wet - luckily the journey home was ok. Unfortunaately I realised when I got home I bent my thumb back or something as its all bruised. Looks like no biking for me for a week or so. Still enjoyed the ride hoome, though the wind and rain were a bit scary.

My first ride home was on my CJ250T - I ploughed it into a metal fence. One week later I threw it into a tree.

What doesn't kill you just makes you stronger! :D

Yep thats what I reckon - had an xray this morning and thumb is ok though it looks like an uncooked sausage thats been beaten with a rolling pin and dyed purple. Wrist x ray unconclusive though - splint for 2 weeks. Their gonna love this tomorrow morning! Mst frustrating thing is I can't get back on now for a while.

Ok, so I've learnt I need to do a CBT, Motorcycle Theory Test and then my Direct Access test. It appears this will cost me £782. That's quite the sum. I think I might do my CBT first and potter around London on a Vespa.

Yep that my plan - CBT done now I'm just going to see how I find the 125 then potentially do direct access

Scaphoid fracture? I was in a splint for a fortnight, plaster for a fortnight, then back to the splint for another fortnight before they decided I hadn't fractured it. >_<

  • 4 weeks later...

I too think bikes are brilliant.

I'm lucky, I have two! My road bike is a Suzuki GSXR1000. Absolutly stunning with a top speed of 186mph (not that I've tested it officer!

I have also bought a Yamaha R6 just for track days. (Living 10 mins from Rockingham and not far from Mallory Park, Donnington & Silverstone gives me lots of play time!).

The Yamaha has been sprayed blue and even has our beloved Leicester City badge on the front and back! Would upload pics but I'm not sure how?!?

If you have the picture on your computer then you can go to Imageshack, upload it there, and then copy the text with the IMG tags around it like so:

I love how ridiculously evil those Guzzi V-Twins sound.

I was saying to hebangsthedrums earlier than the big Varadero matches them when put on a set of aftermarket pipes...a glorious cacophony.

*sits back and waits for Phube to get into a tizzy about loud motorcycles*

Ha!

It's mine - all mine - this very bike.

Or at least it will be when I pay them the balance of the deposit at the end of the month

Did they not have one in a nicer colour and with coordinating upholstery?:whistle:
