DennisNedry Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 Hi Mods. I'm a member of a couple of other (non football) forums as well as this one and whilst this forum is great, something it doesn't do that others do well is pin key discussion topics and merge any subsequent topics created into it. This is basically to reduce spamming the same type of threads over and over. For example, if we had a topic called 'Nigel Pearson Stay or Go?' pinned at the top of the Leicester City forum and merged all new topics created on his future could be merged in to that one thread. It'd help keep the forum tidier and stop pissing so many people off with endless topics saying the same thing after every game.
Mark_w Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 Don't pin Pearson out threads, by all means merge them, but it shouldn't always be the first thing I have to look at.
Fox92 Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 Agree with Mark there, certain threads do need merging. People keep starting the same thread, it's just said in a different way.
davieG Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 It's been shown that pinned threads are less likely to be read or seen as many posters use the "new posts option". Topics that are lively will always rise to the top anyway. Normally similar topics will get merged even though people moan about it but in extreme situations like promotion, cup winning or relegation threatened situations we tend to let people have their head so they can vent their excitement or frustration. There's never a perfect way and all mods will interpret things differently hence there will be an element of inconsistency.
