Stuliasz Posted 30 December 2014 Share Posted 30 December 2014 Just Rewards For Mahrez As He Ends 99 Days of Hurt lcfcratings.wordpress.com Sunday 28 December 2014, 15:00Barclays Premier LeagueKC Stadium, Hull Hull City 0 Leicester City 1Mahrez 32′ Riyad Mahrez proved just how much he'll be missed when he leaves for the African Cup of Nations in January by scoring the only goal and claiming man of the match in Leicester's 1-0 victory over Hull. It was City's first win since the Manchester United 5-3 in September and while the performance was in no way comparative to that game, City's resilience was enough to see it through for the three points. This was thanks in no small part to the defending of Marcin Wasilewski and the midfield leadership and quality of Argentine Esteban Cambiasso, who finished second and third respectively. There were positive performances throughout the team with the lower of the marks being given to the substitutes, not really a surprise considering that City's composure seemed to disappear from the time where Mahrez and Cambiasso went off. The fans did not appreciate Paul Konchesky's contribution to the match after he was sent off for a second bookable offence at a time where City really needed every man on the pitch, earning him the lowest rating. However despite a poor rating for Konchesky, the stubbornness shown by Nigel Pearson's players meant the team rating was the highest seen since the Manchester United win. It was a very good day for Nigel Pearson who received his third highest match performance of the season, only beaten by the other two victories. He also saw the supporter confidence in him grow again, the first time it has increased in consecutive games all season. This was mirrored by the excellent support he received from the travelling Foxes during the game. Hull City went straight in as the worst opposition City have faced this season, while Phil Dowd was deemed to have put in a decent refereeing performance which slightly eclipsed his previous showing at home to Burnley. AKCJ Posted 30 December 2014 Share Posted 30 December 2014 Riyadh MOTM? Not sure I agree with that. Think Wasyl was our best player.
Silverdaz Posted 30 December 2014 Share Posted 30 December 2014 It has to be one of our defenders or goalie surely??
DennisNedry Posted 30 December 2014 Share Posted 30 December 2014 Without a moment of magic by Riyad we wouldn't have scored and wouldn't have won. So he easily deserved MOTM. You can credit the defence somewhat but if not for a lot of luck (Hull hitting post twice and some dreadful misses) we probably should have conceded 3 or 4 goals. TheUltimateWinner Posted 30 December 2014 Share Posted 30 December 2014 Riyads 45 minute performance surpassed the rest of the teams? Not sure about that, but hey ho, thanks for doing this once again!

Harry - LCFC Posted 30 December 2014 Share Posted 30 December 2014 Without a moment of magic by Riyad we wouldn't have scored and wouldn't have won. So he easily deserved MOTM. Mahrez was not our best player. And that's what we're assessing - who performed best.
