Anyone else follow St Etienne in France?

Max Gradel obviously plays for them but I have genuinely always followed their results since Platini played for them in the 70s

Not follow so much as respect them as the team with the best fans in France. Magic Fans are probably in the top 10 ultras groups worldwide IMO. Would love to see them play a derby there against Lyon.

Hoping to visit during Euro 2016 aswell.

You're right, with the exception of those clubs mentioned. Off the top of my head, Matuidi went to PSG, Bafe Gomis went to Lyon, and most recently Zouma went to Chelsea. Do agree with the notion that Hamouma is a good player.

I had a St Etienne shirt from a holiday in France when I was 11..(32 years ago..yikes). Favourite French club since then.

Not at all. Etienne were by far the most successful French during the Platini years.

I'm with C Man wanted to go there for a while. Typical proper club where the town is a bit of blank spot and they have nearby richboys.

It's a niche club much like the city itself. There's a lot more to football than numbers through your turnstile.

I'd say in terms of recent successes on the European and domestic stage, Lille edge it.

 

Monaco have the money and the flair and the big names about them, though.

I'd guess fans of clubs like St. Etienne and Monaco do not have this obsession over how "big" clubs are.
