Captain... Posted 2 February 2015 Share Posted 2 February 2015 Probably better to stimulate debate without it, ie, if you disagree with a point you reply back stating why you don't agree, in a respectful manner of course Arguing with an idiot is not a debate. Most people can't be arsed whereas other idiots tend to agree and group together and plus 1 each other. Then you get lots of noisy idiots who think they are right because the other idiots rep them and nobody can be bothered to get into a fruitless exchange with a moron. A neg button would make people realise they don't speak for the majority.

Negging just leads to people trying to out-do each other by saying the most ridiculous thing they can think of to see how many 'negs' they can get. This is what happens on the Leicester Mercury site. kingfox Posted 2 February 2015 Share Posted 2 February 2015 We should of kept it, myself getting negative points for defending Schlupp, only to get positive rep a month later for standing by him. It would of been the stuff of dreams.
Kitchandro Posted 2 February 2015 Share Posted 2 February 2015 How cruel. If you disagree with something strongly you should be man enough to say so and be intelligent enough to argue it. Negative reps would just encourage morons to discredit what someone else has said without having to partake in a reasoned debate.

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 2 February 2015 Share Posted 2 February 2015 I've supported Leicester all my life, my friends/family all have reasonable views on the team, whether I agree with them or not, I just thought all/most Leicester fans were like this. What this forum has shown me is quite how many of our fans are utter morons. A negative button wouldn't change that.
Royston. Posted 2 February 2015 Share Posted 2 February 2015 The negativity is not nice but to be expected when enduring a crap season like this. Some of it is over the top, repeated over and over or just unfounded. It will go away if the team starts winning regularly.
DB11 Posted 2 February 2015 Share Posted 2 February 2015 If it was used properly it could be like the members moderate the idiots... too many negative ratings results in the post being hidden by default and a member can choose to view it manually, should they wish. lgfualol Posted 2 February 2015 Share Posted 2 February 2015 Would only work if users were limited to how many they could use. Else if you've annoyed someone they'll just neg your every post
