Season Low For Pearson But Majority Still Have Faith

Leicester City going down at home to relegation rivals Crystal Palace proved to be final straw for many as far as the manager is concerned, as Nigel Pearson suffered his largest confidence drop in a single game (down 22%). Following the defeat inaccurate rumours circulated that Nigel Pearson had been sacked by the club, but the majority of the voting supporters still back the manager to see the season through albeit with a season-low majority of 60%. Pearson's weekend was not helped by a low match rating (3.94) following some interesting selections that once again didn't pay off in terms of the result. However with a 36% drop in confidence in just two games, he seems to have passed a turning point for some.

As far as playing performances go, Riyad Mahrez was welcomed back with open arms following Algeria's exit from the African Cup of Nations. Mahrez was comfortably City's best player as his impressive performance (6.74) won him man of the match on his return. Yet again Marcin Wasilewski ranked highly (6.14) as he aims to avoid being the centre-back ousted by the arrival of Robert Huth. Esteban Cambiasso returned from injury with glimpses of his capabilities (6.08), but he certainly played to a higher standard that his recent stand-ins Drinkwater and King.

There were some noticeably bad individual performances against Alan Pardew's Eagles. Leonardo Ulloa (3.68) put in one of his worst performances this season as his control badly let him down. Danny Simpson (3.86) may have been ranked lower had tricky winger Wilfried Zaha continued his first-half performance throughout the game, while Wes Morgan (4.00) also looked shaky and must be fearing for his place as loanee Huth completes his suspension.

Consequently the team performance was lower than average (5.19) although with the home side creating so many chances it's difficult to be critical of the overall display. Crystal Palace were also ranked below average (5.07) with 17 out of the 27 performances being voted better than the Eagles at the King Power Stadium including their 6.96-ranked display at Selhurst Park. Lee Mason was ranked particularly poorly (3.98) following an extremely inconsistent display where the more physical side largely went unpunished throughout the game. It was Mason's fourth City game of the season and his lowest after scoring 7.31, 4.46 and 6.21 against Chelsea (A), Liverpool (H) and Newcastle (H) respectively.

60% is clearly a knee jerk reaction.

There was a lot more than 60% on here expressing their disappointment at Nigel's supposed sacking.

66% in the sacking poll yesterday and that, if anything, was knee jerk.

Account for the fact that this is a mostly pro-pearson forum compared to Bentley's roof and I reckon it's probably quite close to 50/50 and I would imagine he will lose majority support at some point in the next three losses.

the only way that figure will get much lower is if we lose in the cup. and if we win in the cup it'll be about 80% again, no doubt.

there's also no way it's 50/50 in real life either. like i said in the other thread one nigel pearson is often our loudest chant at away games, which i'd say is the best representation of our support, man for man.
