Player Profile

'Rab' worked as a bricklayer and a fireman before he signed on for Meadowbank Thistle (Livingston) relatively late for a professional footballer. He soon impressed as a goalkeeper in Scottish football and ended up at SPL giants Celtic for five years.

He was a regular in the Scotland international squad and fellow Scot Craig Levein brought him south of the border when he was manager of City. His debut didn't go to plan, however, when he conceded a needless penalty as Leicester lost 4-1 at Sheffield United on the opening day of the season.

He was City's first choice until a few weeks into the Rob Kelly era, when he suffered injury and was replaced between the sticks by Paul Henderson. It proved to be his ultimate downfall at the club - Rab didn't get the number one jersey back and he was told he could look for a new club when Martin Allen came in as manager.

He went on to have loan spells away from the Walkers Stadium with Millwall and Wycombe Wanderers before being released from his time at the club to move back to Scotland with Dundee.
