Tommy was a product of the Leicester academy who looked to be destined for big things as a youngster, but who somewhat lost his way further on his career.

He caught the attention thanks to his goals for City's under-17s in the 2001-02 season and was named in the senior squad on the back of his performances, even getting a brief experience of the Premiership.

However, it was seen best to continue his development in the junior sides and he did just that with the U19s, so much so that he won a number of call-ups for the England U19s. Manager of the time Micky Adams continued to give him a taste of senior action to whet his appetite and he grabbed the winner against Nottingham Forest in his first senior start.

More first-team football was deemed necessary and Wright enjoyed two relatively productive loan spells in the Football League with Brentford and then Blackpool. But his promising start to his football career hit the buffers somewhat, so much so that City cashed in on the youngster and Barnsley took advantage to complete a £50,000 signing.

His career didn't take of at Oakwell, either, and Wright had further moves to Walsall, on-loan, Darlington, Aberdeen and Grimsby Town.
