Striker Eastoe had two loan spells with City, totalling eleven league appearances for the club and scoring twice along the way. He was actually brought in on both occasions to partner Gary Lineker in attack with Alan Smith typically taking time to settle into a new season.
City boss Gordon Milne looked to the out-of-favour West Brom hitman to help out Lineker in attack, and plug the gap left by Smith as he got into the rhythm of the new campaign. He did the job in his first spell and was just hitting top-form when he received a cruel injury in a game against Manchester United.
Although not a prolific striker, he held the ball up well and was a powerful leader of the line. After impressing Milne in his first spell at the club, Eastoe arrived for a second time and made a similar good start, scoring in his first game back as City demolished Aston Villa 5-0. It was to be his 95th league goal, and his last.
Eastoe was loaned out five times while with the Baggies and he went on to play in Portugal, helping Farense to promotion to the top-flight of their league in 1986 before returning to England to play in non-league football in the West Mildlands. He was also briefly assistant manager at Nuneaton Borough. After football he took up a job as a van driver and then worked in a warehouse.
