A battling midfielder from Edmonton, Kellard was a first-team regular for just one season with the Foxes from 1970-71, and what a season it was, helping the club seal promotion in 1971 and picking up his only championship-winning medal.
He arrived from Bristol City in the summer of 1970 after breaking onto the Football League scene at the age of just 16 and earning England Youth caps as a result. Spells at Crystal Palace, Portsmouth and Ipswich Town came after he progressed through the youth ranks at Southend United.
He was a reliable middle man in City’s midfield and also chipped in with eight goals along the way but his time as a Fox came to an end just a year later when new manager Jimmy Bloomfield opted for Alan Birchenall in his place.
Kellard opted for a return to Crystal Palace on his Filbert Street departure but again only lasted a year, moving on to another former club in Portsmouth before eventually trying his hand as player-manager with Chelmsford City in 1975.
