John Evens Wright Sinclair, better known as 'Jackie', joined City in 1965, a £25,000 signing from Dunfermline, by then manager, Matt Gillies.

The pacey winger known for his killing pace and shooting instincts was equally at home on either flank, forged an instantly successful combination with Derek Dougan at the forefront of City's attack, which would go on to earn him his first full Scotland cap in his very first season at Filbert Street.

During a two year spell at the club, Sinclair went on to score a hugely impressive 53 goals in just 113 games for the Foxes, before moving prematurely, probably due to the £67,500 cheque being offered by Newcastle United during the 1967/1968 season.

In January 1968, Sinclair joined Newcastle United, where he became a member of the team that won 1969 Fairs Cup. In December 1969, he was sold to Sheffield Wednesday, where he spent three-and-a-half seasons before finishing his career back in Scotland with his former club Dunfermline, and lastly Stenhousemuir.

Sinclair died in September 2010, aged 67, following a long battle with cancer. He was the first member of Newcastle's Fairs Cup winning side to die.

Several members of his family were involved in high-level football. His uncle Tommy Wright was a Scottish international. His brother Willie Sinclair, his son Chris Sinclair and his cousin Tommy Wright, a former LCFC fans favourite under Brian Little were also professional footballers.
