Player Profile

The centre-forward was born in Leicester but didn't actually join the Foxes until 1941, after playing for Aylestone United, Leicester Nomads, Ibstock, Penistone Rovers and Bath City.

He actually got noticed playing against City's Colts team for Ibstock but was soon away on RAF duty just after putting pen-to-paper on a deal at Filbert Street. He did, however, leave his mark with a superb ten-goal haul in a 17-0 victory with the Colts.

Wartime saw him make eleven appearances in the blue and white and he impressed with six goals along the way, but got just the one shot at post-war football, in a home game against Swansea Town in 1947 and failing to score.

Chapman was transfer-listed soon after and he moved on to play for Leyton Orient, Brush Sports and Burton Albion before he became player-manager of Tamworth, where he finished his career.
