King was a graduate of City's Academy set-up but struggled to make the grade in the first team.
Born in Chesterfield, the Foxes spotted his talent from an early age and managed to get him on their books, impressing for the under-18s and making the bench for a League Cup clash at Fulham before getting a run-out in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy against Lincoln City.
He received a call-up for the Scotland U19s and went out on-loan to Hereford United , where he scored within six minutes of his debut. He was in released in May 2011 and soon after joined AFC Telford United.
