The powerful striker was a loan arrival under the watch of Rob Kelly but by the time he was at the Walkers Stadium from Sheffield United his qualities were on a downward spiral.
He did manage two goals against Coventry City but they were the only times he got on the scoresheet in his 13 appearances for Leicester.
Horsfield, born in Barnsley, was a relatively late starter in professional football, playing in Yorkshire with Halifax Town, Scarborough and Guiseley before Fulham took him to the capital in 1998. It was there where he really made his name, and Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and West Brom all signed him up to bolster their attacking options.
His move to Sheffield United wasn't the most successful and before his arrival at Leicester he'd also been loaned out to Leeds United.
Horsfield was diagnosed as suffering from testicular cancer but made a swift recovery and went on to play for Lincoln City before taking an assistant manager role alongside Micky Adams at Port Vale.
