The Scottish-born former Arsenal forward arrived at City from a spell with Manchester City and was charged with getting the goals to keep the Foxes in the Premier League when he signed in 2008. A feisty competitor, Dickov always gave 100 per cent but could only score four goals as City suffered relegation to the Championship. He made up it the following season, netting a career-high 20 goals as City won promotion straight back to the top-flight, finishing second behind winners Portsmouth.

The Scotsman went on to net 13 goals the following season but it wasn't enough to keep the Foxes in the Premier League and he suffered relegation with the Foxes for a second time. But he took up an option on his contract which allowed him to leave for a top-flight club and promptly joined Blackburn Rovers.

He came back for a second spell at the Walkers Stadium when City were in League One and, used mainly as back-up to Matty Fryatt and Steve Howard, made 20 appearances and scored two goals to help the club to promotion back to the Championship.

Off the pitch, Dickov was one of three City players arrested on allegations of sexual assault during a training camp in La Manga in 2004. He, Frank Sinclair and Keith Gillespie were all arrested but the trio were later cleared after the allegations proved to be false. Dickov described the period as the "darkest" of his career.
